Unspent covid money… the article highlights so many uses the labs have for those funds. So cruel to rip it away mid cycle without warning. Saying the people’s health isn’t worth this much money… which is not even enough

this belongs to r/LeopardsAteMyFace. it's like don't sue to make a "stand"? well just lose money that is just sitting out there that was already assigned to you

This article didn’t get comments from any of those red state’s governors, legislators, or attorney generals. They are the people with the power to sue, and chose not too. It’s not a Leopard situation. They don’t give a single fuck and do not regret that choice.

The ones who actually give a fuck are the public health departments, these are the people interviewed for this article. Many of whom fought as much as they could, but have no power to sue at the federal level without the resources and backing from their state officials.

As a liberal who grew up in the south I hate this take. Plenty of red states are only red because of historical disenfranchisement of minorities as well as gerrymandering. Trump won Georgia by only around 100k votes. Over 2 million people who voted blue there will get their healthcare and rights taken away, many of which are said minorities who historically have been denied the right to vote.

Yeah, it’s a gross take.

Like, mayyyybe on a county level? Like, Empty Greene’s district, fuck ‘em. But over all, no.

Maybe the very young kids, but it literally has not gotten any better since Oprah went there in 1987.

Look up 1987 Forsyth County protests, for whatever reason, Reddit won’t let me paste a URL in.

Works for me.

So long as I don’t have to reeducate them. I’m Jewish, and I’d lose my shit within an hour.

Public health is for all, even those that can’t or won’t see its value. Also many, many people in red states did not, in fact, vote for this. I am one of them. Hope this helps

This is tempting to say, but it unfortunately is not the take. Babies, bath water, etc

Right back at you. (The fuck you part) I, a citizen of a red state and dedicated public health worker, did not vote for this.

Literal children who cannot vote did not either.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, I agree. They voted for this. Empathy left me in November of 2024. They gave no fucks about anyone and it’s time the favor was returned.

What about the POC and Women and Queer people in red states who voted blue. They deserve the shit coming at them?
