I spoke to someone who came into my cafe to try and get into my old school district for healthier meals.
>It’s the procurement rules that are constraining us,”
The procurement and process is exhausting and impossible. He straight up told me he's been working but couldn't figure out how to make it happen. Then we're all stuck with Aramark levels of quality.
I can't believe RFK is gonna get children to eat healthier in schools compared to Michelle Obama.
I honestly don’t think that he will. He may be banning ingredients, which is great, but this administration has also gotten rid of the LFPA funds and other funding sources that were helping schools with procurement. Schools were previously using federal grants to purchase local food from farmers, hire chefs, hire nutritionist, and get culinary education/training for their staff. And now they’re all scrambling to replace those funds or they risks losing their farm to school programs.
