First Team Who’s the most random player that you often think about?

Post image

The 6ft 3 Serbian Zidane is that player for me. 7 beautiful appearances and for some reason stuck with me as a 13 year old watching football properly for the first time.

Think he may have been decent in that years fifa as well.

Who’s your random player from years past?

Who McLeish said he had to teach how to play on the wing 🙄

u/Coops17 3d ago

Of the same era Madjid Bougherra and DaMarcus Beasley constant appear in my memory

u/baronsameday 3d ago

Was out at the casino once and I said to my pal that looks like a fat Madjid Bougherra... He turned back to me and says no that's just Madjid Bougherra.

2

u/Coops17 3d ago

Haha, one of those players that was either gonna be a professional footballer or a big fat bastard

Zurab Khizanishvili - just always loved how it sounds lol

Brahmin Hemdani.

Woefully underrated IMHO.

His distribution was immense

u/mixmasterboaby 3d ago

Andy Dibble

u/kingpowr Coop 3d ago

The only good Welshman we’ve had I’m fairly sure.

u/mixmasterboaby 3d ago edited 3d ago

Brought in for an old firm game if memory serves me right. The one at Chamber of Secrets which we won 1-0 and basically secured 9IAR. Played it, won it, played some more games til Goram returned then left

3

u/kingpowr Coop 3d ago

That’s it I’m sure

1

u/AlarmingLook2441 3d ago

Dibble has a Rangers 9 in a row tattoo, fair play to him.

Albertz

u/ashscot50 3d ago

Ronald de Boer had the best football brain of any player I've ever seen, Oleksiy Oleksandrovych Mykhaylychenko, who Walter largely wasted on the left wing and Brahim Hemdani, the unsung hero of our road to Manchester in 2007/08.

2

u/TeaSoft3270 3d ago

All very good choices.

3

u/ashscot50 3d ago

And Brian Laudrup, of course.

Sebastián Rozental

7

u/Historical_Mud_3281 3d ago

Gazza but only for his infamous fireworks incident with Coisty

11

u/SweetChuckBarry 3d ago

The bucket of KFC, fishing rod, and Raoul Moat for me

3

u/Historical_Mud_3281 3d ago

If Gazza was still playing he could have had the "bucket of Iheanacho's & cheese" that the filth signed lol

5

u/AbsoluteMince 3d ago

Federico Nieto, because my brother got him in a brand new top in 2005 and he played 3 games.

7

u/cglufc 3d ago

Sebo

7

u/darwinxp 3d ago

Not a player obviously but I think about Walter all the time. You always knew we'd find a way to win

5

u/SinnerStar 3d ago

Prodan, Sebo, Rozental. The constantly injured! I suppose Matondo and Cortes should be added

5

u/Madcap1012 3d ago

Jardel if only he had a visa

2

u/djwhite47 3d ago

And his missus.

I think there was some floppy haired fanny defender we signed on loan in 2018. Said he couldnt handle the pressure. Glad we never seen him again. Can anyone remember his name?

5

u/LforLegend1 3d ago

Heard he might have gone on to be an equally shite manager 🤔

2

u/King_Billy1690 Barry’s Staunch Truck 3d ago

Cant imagine who'd be stupid enough to sign him on

5

u/Intelligent_Fox_9843 Djeidi Gassama 3d ago

Michael Mols and what he would have been like if he never got injured

2

u/Dapper-Bison-6153 1d ago

One of the greatest

7

u/Mcelvaca 3d ago

DaMarcus Beasley

1

u/AngularPlane 1d ago

Always surprised how few games he played for us

5

u/whittiy 3d ago

unpopular opinion but mine is steven whittaker... idk his appearance and way of running lives rent free in my head, sadly lol

6

u/Chrismscotland 3d ago

I know what you mean about his run! I can still picture that goal against Sporting Lisbon on the run to Manchester

6

u/burglarysheepspeak 3d ago

Bert Konterman, what a legend

u/DumbartonChef 3d ago

Erik Bo Anderson

“Davis fools everyone by picking out Pedro MEEEENDEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS”

5

u/AggravatingMeat1903 3d ago

Oleg Salenko.

Won the WC golden boot because he scored 5 goals in one game and then we signed him on loan.

3

u/steveuk99 3d ago

He wasn’t a loan. We bought him for £2.5m but sold him at the end of the season

1

u/AggravatingMeat1903 2d ago

ah didnt realise, assumed it was considering he disnt stay long

0

u/djwhite47 3d ago

And he did nothing in that season.

Gabriel Amato. One of the most skillful players I've ever seen in person. Not the best striker ever - but an incredible pair of feet.

Daniel Prodan. The blueprint of our policy of signing expensive injured players.

5

u/Big_Blue_1690 3d ago

Marco negri and the striker has was becoming for us and Terry Hurlock(mad man)

3

u/Accomplished_Week392 3d ago

Negroni was on around 30’goals before Xmas one season, then got an eye injury from pergio sorini playing “squash” and everything fell apart, would have been an amazing season

Davie Cooper. Unbelievable player.

Common appearance when watching old Rangers compilations on Youtube when I get home from the pub blootered

3

u/ShugNew9070 3d ago

I had a video tape of him growing up when i was just old enough to start kick a ball properly and it was like a training video how to improve control and stuff. I think he died not long after filming it. Rip D.C 😎👍🔴⚪🔵

Aaron Niguez - once read a player review of one of his few appearances that described him as "happy feet" and thats just stuck in my brain

5

u/gtr011191 3d ago

Only found out a few years back he’s Saul’s brother at Atletico

Dan eggen. Flawless barnet

u/Jamboglasgow 3d ago

Kanchelskis. Specifically the salute 🫡

3

u/Lazy-Satisfaction-15 2d ago

Scott Nisbet, and watching from behind him in the enclosure in 1993 as he launched his “shot” that turned into a crazy goal v Club Brugge.

2

u/ButtersScot Cyriel Dessers 2d ago

One of the few memories I have of my dad before he died was his reaction to this goal, sitting in his recliner with a beer and his legs jiggling while he laugh manically at what just happened

3

u/Jamie54 2d ago

Jérémy Clément. Think he could have been a cracking player for us.

2

u/Sturgeon2008 2d ago

Yeah he came with the right reputation but anything associated with that PLG era was doomed to be short lived.

Aaron Niguez. I was fairly young when he signed for us and I remember being excited about him.

If only we'd signed his brother instead :(

2

u/maidenscotland1987 3d ago

Boumsong, bonnissel, vanoli and namouchi are a few of them, bonnissel probably the most random. Or filippo maniero and dan eggan.

2

u/Father-Spodo-Komodo 3d ago

We never signed him but Sidney Govou always being about sign was a massive meme on the 00s message boards.

2

u/AlarmingLook2441 3d ago

He was world beating on Championship Manager so I bought him for my 13 in a row winning Rangers team.

2

u/Exotic-Client-2503 3d ago

Alexei Mikhailichenko always pops into my head for some reason . Remember having the 8 in a row VHS as a kid.

Yes had to google the spelling.

I met Bert Kontermann at 3 in the morning on Queen Street when I had just come out of Optimo and I had gubbed 3 eccies. I think about that from time to time
