Our last home series against a divisional opponent is July 24th? Wtf is that?

the balanced schedule is an idea no one likes but the owners.

How do the owners even like this? How is Henry ok with not having the Yankees come to town in September (or even fucking August)?

u/jedlucid 1d ago
the big market teams don’t really benefit for it but the pirates want every chance to have stars from every team play there.

u/kelsey11 1d ago
I guess I’m old fashioned, but I’d rather have divisional rivalries in key spots of the season than two months of randos.

u/jedlucid 1d ago
no. literally everyone but the owners hates this. they did this in hockey and basketball too. it’s awful.

Hey, who here doesn't want to end the season with a 3 game series against noted historical rival...the Chicago Cubs?
Jesus Christ, what even is that August and September home schedule?

u/Munro_McLaren 1d ago
They play the Rays in late September.

u/Cheese_burger86 1d ago
But they’re away for that series

u/Munro_McLaren 1d ago
Ohh. Right. My dad and I are looking to watch a Patriots game and a Red Sox game in September, but I hate the teams they’re playing in September.

9 game road trip heading into the ASB - No home games for 16 days. Wild.

u/TheHistorian2 21h ago
Best spot on the calendar to have the longest (including west coast) road trip of the season.

No Yankees/Sox after August 30th? Seems weird from a ratings / playoff race standpoint.

Me too :(
Granted my birthday is January 26th

Mine is in April, and given the number of off days early in the season, if it’s a weekday it’s usually 50/50.

Reds, Astros, Padres, Brewers, Cards, Twins, Tigers, Yankees, Orioles, Blue Jays, Astros, Tigers, Rays, Phillies, Braves, Royals. We're at Memorial day by then. Hit the division again early June. How many of those are playoff teams or could be playoff teams next year?

u/DIECASTCHARV 22h ago
How do you make a schedule where Boston hosts ZERO division games at Fenway after July!? Just dump a bunch of meaningless matchups in there.. Two months vs the As, White Sox, Angels, DBacks etc is such a buzz kill

u/Teh_One_Who_Knocks 1d ago
Sure would be nice if they would be coming to Coors on a weekend series instead of during the week. It was the same exact way last year, a Mon-Wed series.

What a terrible schedule. A single series vs the Yankees in the second half of the season? Just four series vs divisional opponents in the final two months?

u/Take-it-like-a-Taker 23h ago
Yea this schedule sucks.
Three mini trips to the west coast? Okay, at least there is a travel day off after two of them…
The one mini west coast trip without a travel day afterwards is 3 games in Seattle, 3 games in Colorado, then our final FOUR home games versus the Yankees - in June…
16 days without a home game ahead of the all-star break… yeesh.

All three west-coast trips are in consecutive road trips. That's going to be a brutal 6 weeks.

Ugh all I asked for was a game at Fenway over my birthday but that seems too much to ask.

Can someone explain why we have a scheduled doubleheader against Seattle in june ??????????
1
u/humblestworker 1d ago
I think it’s Juneteenth
Edit: I am wrong. Looks like a World Cup match on that day.
1
u/chincurtis3 1d ago
While that’s true, other teams have games on Juneteenth, so I still don’t understand

Seattle's stadium shares a parking lot with the football stadium that will be hosting a World Cup match. They can't accommodate both events so there is a scheduled doubleheader the next day.

As a Cincinnati resident, I am stoked to start the season here. Definitely going to have tickets for opening day

u/Opening-Witness1785 22h ago
Only 5 road trips in the second half, compared to 9 in the first half. That seems to be in our favor!

u/ShrimpNGrits14 22h ago
Ugh, there are definitely things about this schedule not to like, but I’m going to look at the positives.
As a Sox fan that wants to visit every park, seeing Opening Day in Cincinnati definitely has my attention.
A weekend in Seattle (T-Mobile Park) immediately followed by a series in Colorado (Coors Field) will definitely be on my calendar. And a weekend series at PNC Park will also be really cool.

I always look at the west coast trips first. The long one before ASB is good. But the other two being so close to that is tough.
Also a lot of interleague to open the season.

Hopefully I’ll be going to one of the games in LA vs the Dodgers next summer, it would be my first time in LA
