anime/manga Respect Father [Fullmetal Alchemist]

Father is the first homunculus, created by an alchemist from Xerxes with Hoenheim's blood, hundreds of years before the beginning of the series. He fools the king of Xerxes into making a nation-wide transmutation circle with the promise of immortality. Next, he purposefully misinforms them, causing Hoenheim and himself to each receive half of the nation's souls.. At this stage, Father should have had 536,329 souls within him, the same as Hoenheim.

Father then left, and taught alchemy to the ancient Amestrians. He planted himself under the ground and built the nation around him, planning eventually to sacrifice every person in it. He also inserted himself as a buffer between alchemists and their source of power so alchemy could not be used against him.

After having his container (the body that resembles Hoenheim) damaged, it is revealed that he no longer needs it.

  • Absorbs a thrown kunai, massively increases it's size, and fires it back: Manga

  • Zaps May Chang: Manga

  • Turns his arm into a gun: Manga

  • Warps his body to avoid attacks and wrap people up: Manga, Anime

  • Avoids Greed's attack: Manga

God form

I can create a sun right in the palm of my hand. Shall I turn it's flame loose in here?

After his nationwide transmutation circle activates giving him energy from almost all the humans in Amestris, he pulls God out of the sky. He now has over 50 million souls within him.

  • Turns off alchemy with a finger tap: Manga

  • Makes a large explosion, piercing all the way up past ground level: Manga

    • This was left out of the anime. The hole is instead partially caused by May Chang and the surface is pierced by an energy ball deflected by Hoenheim.

  • Creates nuclear fusion in his hand: Manga

Hoenheim activates his reverse circle, and Father loses the souls of Amestris. He now deems it too risky to use nuclear fusion.

One says it's a small sun, the other says it's a nuclear reaction, fusion matches both while fission actively contradicts the first.

It doesn't, but "assuming a character is lying when there's no evidence against him and others are corroborating his story" is a bad idea.

The heat and light of the sun are produced through fusion. You're not going to see fission.

Huh, I have a different idea. I am a follower of "never assume anything is true, never believe in anything unless there is evidence". To each of their own.

Nuclear fission produces a lot of heat man, if theres lots of heat, there'll be lots of light.

Yes, fission also creates heat and light, but nuclear fission does not power stars.

My argument is that it is not really a star and thus it can be fission or fusion.

Nuclear fission is much easier than a fusion to create. I see no reason where father need to create a nuclear fusion when he can do the same with fission.

If you're going to say that a character statement is a lie for absolutely no reason, then you might as well ignore the other one too and just say it's regular fire. It's an incredibly weak argument. He says he's making a star, that's a clear indication that it's fusion.

At a certain point it goes from doubt to just actively ignoring clear information.

Information, not facts. Information can also come in one person's take on how they perceive one thing in their own minds. Information can be deceiving. Information dumped by a person's speech is just raw information, you need to cross examine things before they can become a fact.
