I'm pretty sure the speed of a particle beam would vary depending on the number of particles being fired and the energy put behind that launch.

If it was that massive it would've been doing a lot more to the environment than shown. That's probably just some weird interaction the two beams have with each other.

Well they were both particle beams, one from Ramiel, and the other was described as firing positrons, and was charged with at least 180 million kilowatts
