O’Gara has a five year contract with La Rochelle

Eddie Jones and Dave Rennie both had contracts that suddenly disappeared.

They got fired. La Rochelle isn't letting O'Gara go.

I mean NZR bought Brad Mooar out of his 3 year contract with Scarletts when Fozzie wanted him, so not impossible, but probably unlikely

Who knows what his contract stipulates? He could have an out clause in the case a international team comes calling?

Nah, ROG will be a national head coach next, he’s not coming back to NZ, leaving his family again, for an assistant role. He will have plenty of options before the ‘27 World Cup.

Yeah, ROG to the All Blacks isn't going to happen.

In a head coach role already at a wealthy, top European club with a contract that's likely one the most expensive in club rugby to buy out.

He was already in consideration for the England job himself too, so it's likely that if ROG does make a next step, it will be to test rugby as a head coach.

Yes, ROG is tied to them until 2027. Plus I’m not sure he would move back here anyway tbh, a bit too far from home.

Would be surprised if he doesn't go for the Ireland job next, whenever that eventually opens up. I always figured he'd want to take Munster too (take them back to win the Heineken Cup), but tbh the Munster job seems a step down for him at this point.

I think Ireland would be the next logical step. Agree, probably too experienced for Munster by then. As an Irish supporter, would like to see what he brings to the national side.

At least he’d be marginally more upbeat than Eddie O’Sullivan, who attended the same school of banter as Graham Henry and Steve Hansen.

Maybe he'll take the Munster job as a pre-retirement gig after he leads Ireland to win the WC in 2031! ;)

My secret hope it's he takes over Leinster when Leo moves upstairs

What's in it for him though? Apart from the fact that he's a Munster man through and through, it's like buying a stock when it's at its peak. At best he'd win a HC or two and it would be seen as a sort of continuation of Leinster's success, anything short of that and it'd be seen as a failure. With Munster he could rebuild the team to its former glory, instill a winning culture, phoenix from the ashes and all that and then beat Leinster on the way to winning a HC. It would be some fairytale shit for him. The only problem is, he's just played through that story arc with La Rochelle.

He'd have to overcome a lot of institutional issues at Munster. Leinster's philosophy would far more aligned with his sentiments I think.
