This looks a lot like an old flash game that I used to be able to find on the BBC sport website

it may have been an NFL game, i used to play it about 25 years ago in school.

No it was a Six Nations rugby game. There were various training levels before you started the games, covering passing, kicking, tackling, lineouts etc, then you would play the 5 games in the hunt for a Grand Slam. I loved it!

They also had a belter of a Wimbledon tennis game where you could play as Shakespeare, John Lennon or Churchill.
