i non ironically found Lomu rugby to be one of the best sports games on ps1, def best rugby game ive played and i think its because of how satisfying the gameplay and mechanics were. Fairly simple controls and smooth gameplay + the classic commentary which my siblings still quote when my old man and I watch the rugby when everyone is together.
This looks like its well on its way to capturing something pretty close, if you can nail the satisfaction of old Lomu rugby and its smooth satisfyng gameplay, this will be a belter. Cant wait to see how you go with this.

Maybe its my age and my lack of playing consoles in 10 years but i still believe games looked better when they looked worse as our brains fill the blanks (almost like reading) and are therefor engaged in a different way to the sensory overload and hd graphics you get with modern games.
Proper boomer moment but the first time i played a switch I found the stimulation to be so intense i had the thought, this may not be good for kids to play lol.
It was a mix of Asmr and super smooth graphics which felt weird to me, in a way im still unsure about but i do have a soft spot for consoles ps1 and 2 + gameboy/colour, possibly just cause i grew up with them but they were awesome as a kid and left a lot to the imagination + had diverse storytelling and sound as they battled limitations in soft/hardware. Really dig the approach with this, looks fantastic with the birds eye view and what appear to be simple enough mechanics to play.

Huge respect for having a crack with this and good luck with finishing it, super impressed and will be following!
