After an injury, I ended up with a bit of a head cold. Bit frustrating with a marathon just around the corner.
Anyway, been working back into it. Long run today clocked in at 18km. Wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel so did a nice little 4.5km wrap around back to my house where I implemented some short 1-2minute pit stops. Got some fuel into me and took back off. Did this rinse and repeat for 4 laps.
What a great way to do it! The short stop gives the body a chance for a quick bounce back and totally took the ego and pressure out of the run. Ended up completing the 18kms and feel fresh as a daisy after.
Any feedback on the impact of running like this? Positive or negative? Might be implementing it more often because I really liked this vibe.

Starting on Monday did 8km easy and full body in the gym, 400m over unders on Tuesday totaling 6.5k, a pyramid run totaling 8.5k Friday, gym Saturday and 12km long run today.
I’m relatively new coming from cycling. Did a couch to 5k last October, ran consistently with no goals til January, started cycling again, picking running back up 3 weeks ago to try to hit that 5k again with a new PR

My deload week is coming to a close, and I think I figured out my peroneus issues. It turns out that the peroneus is working extra hard because my calves are too tight. So yeah, I just need to stretch more.
Coming up, I've got 2 threshold sessions, 1 anaerobic session, 2 Base runs, 1 recovery and 1 long run next week

Ran around 55km this week, lots of speed work with a half marathon at 60-70% effort yesterday.
Now time for a recovery week

Fri 26.5mi (4:13) Sri Chinmoy Marathon
Sat 5.3mi (1:24)
Sun 5.8mi (1:34)
Total: 48.2 miles
Friday marathon went very similar to the one I ran in May. This one was also on a paved loop, but better, closer to 3 miles per loop, around the lake and with some shaded areas too. I started on a 3:30 pace and went though the half in about 1:44. Soon after the 15 mile marker which I hit at around 9am, it started getting a bit warmer and my pace started dropping fairly rapidly. I jogged in the remaining miles at an easy pace. I definitely liked the setup and I would love to go back there in the future to race or to do more training runs.

Monday was my birthday, managed a 10k pb in a group run - 53:18 (previous was 55:05) Consistent easy running sessions all week to save myself. Today despite being at a festival, I have managed to get 2.5 miles done, just stopped for a coffee before running the reverse route!
