Don't know whether to continue?? Spoiler

I'm currently almost finished with the Talismans of Shannara which I think is the seventh book. I'm debating whether even to start the First King of Shannara, is it worth it?

The Elf Queen of Shannara was the worst one so far and I didn't even finish it (because I thought I had lost the book). I cliff noted the end to find out what happened.

Why can't every book be like the original sequel, Elf Stones of Shannara? This was an incredible fantasy thriller where I couldn't stop turning the pages. Even Wish Song and the Scions of Shannara were really good. The Druid of Shannara was okay, I enjoyed them exploring the abandoned city. But elf queen was just so out of context in my opinion. Also it was so far fetched that the elves could just do almost anything with their magic. If they could shrink their whole city why couldn't they just restore peace to the four lands? But that's just my opinion.

Anyways my mom just finished the sword of Shannara and I told her she has to read Elf Stones because it's SOO much better!

Need opinions on First King and whether to continue!! Or what's the next best thing to The Dark Tower series? Besides LOTR.

PS: I read most of Running w the Demon long before Shannara and that was pretty good!

I don't know man... most Shannara fans I know regard heritage as the best series out of all of them, and I'm inclined to agree. Thought the entire series was fantastic, not sure what to tell you. I'd say read on, but I don't think we have the same measuring stick for what makes a good story/book. 🤷‍♂️

Elf queen was the weakest of the 4. I agree. The next series the ilse witch is my favorite. The antrax villain is very unique and I like the plot here.

After that is the tannequil series which is interesting but not as good as the previous.

Uh…

Yeah I’m confused by your post.

Elf Queen was good. Talisman’s as a whole was good.

Voyage of Jerle is so so good.

First King is one of my favorites of the series. Heritage to me was a good series, but not the best as some here would say. Maybe you’re like me and should give up yet, or maybe you’ve reached the end of your Shannara journey. No way to know without moving onto the next books.

First King is not my favorite. I like the Ilse witxh and voyages of the jerle Shannara books.

Also read running with demons

First King of Shannara is one of the better books, and it stands alone. It also answers some questions from the original trilogy. It is a large scope book, has a different cadence than some of the earlier books. It is a good read.

First King of Shannara is a very good book. It gives more insight into Bremen in one book then you get from Allanon in the original trilogy. You also get a full picture of the Second War of the Races as opposed to in Sword where you only get Man's perspective of the Third War of the Races
