It'll speed up the degradation of the material/waterproofing. By how much? I don't know.

Do you think it'll speed up that degradation more than machine washing with Nikwax?

How often are you washing your jacket? I assume this is a shell you're talking about.

It's a 2-piece, so I'm washing the liner/inner jacket every 8ish ski days currently or it starts to smell at the arm pits.

Ah, do you have a link to it? I'm just trying to determine what piece it is.

Pretty sure it's this one, although I bought it in November so it may be whatever last year's version of this was.

If it's just the thermoball insulation layer, I think you should be fine then. It'll technically speed up the degradation, but it's not like that layer sees a lot of sun anyway.

That said, does a UV light actually work for that?

Appreciate the second opinion, and yes it works surprisingly well even with a 20 minute exposure. It's a 50-80% reduction in odor in my experience and the only trick is to get as much problematic material in direct light as possible.

Edit: also do it outside or vent your bathroom because ozone.
