At just $19.99 per month, Select is one of the most affordable ways to access top-tier live and on-demand TV. It includes a curated mix of must-have channels, such as Fox News, National Geographic, GRIT, NFL Network, FX, FS1, METV, Game Show Network, Heroes & Icons, Lifetime Movie Network and Vice. As well as specific 4K content across FOX and FS1.

In select markets, subscribers will also receive local broadcast channels ABC, NBC and FOX. A nominal surcharge applies based on local channel availability: $5 per month for markets with one or two local channels, and $10 per month for markets with all three.

If they are offered at all in your market. For example, none are available in the Indianapolis market. Indy seems to be the definition of a "fly-over" market for many products/services. Living only 50 miles south of the city, I can understand why that is true.

I am in the same boat, no locals available in my market. I'm OK with that, I can see the ABC, CBS and NBC towers from my house, and can pick up FOX OTA. With my AirTV Anywhere, I don't need or want locals, part of the reason I chose Sling.

The only channels in that I care about are the sports channels, so I am going to, instead, opt for the Fox One package when it lands. I'll get the Big Ten Network instead of all the ones I could not care less about from the Sling package. Getting BTN, FS1 and my local Fox channel (can't get it by antenna) for the same price is much more to my liking.

I do applaud Sling for trying their limited time passes though.

For some folks, Fox News is THE must-have channel. I presume this mini-package is designed to get out in front of the upcoming streaming deals soon to be offered by Fox One ($20/month) and the Fox One/ESPN bundle ($40/month).

Seems they have fixed a few old issues. The unlimited DVR does not work well (or the 50 hour one worked right anyway), and the guide updates are beyond slow. Maybe an index key for each channel for next version as it has to pull the favorites for me. Wish pause did not grey out the screen, so I can not have to hit 3 keys to get an advertisers info or a stock screen on CNBC.

But for now, I can live with it myself, wife seems OK, but she moved on to other apps..
