Discussion What would you consider the worst season of south park?
Me personally I'd say season 20 i don't hate it i find the season boring and the story of it very messy

u/DoYouNotRememberThis 11h ago
Season 20 for me. All the episodes just mesh together into one 3-hour long special that could have easily been a 1-hour special.

u/Princess_Aurora06 10h ago edited 9h ago
It was more they played into trump losing but that backfired and that’s why the season kinda didn’t feel the same as previous seasons
27
u/Sobotoc4311 6h ago
The first 9 episodes before trump won were not good either. I don't think it was gonna suddenly save the season even if they landed the ending. The problem for many season 20 dislikers is simple. It was rarely funny. Something was deeply off with the pacing as well. Everything felt slower. Even though it was animated it also had this weird point of reference switch thats quite jarring if you watch even newer episodes or older episodes and go back and watch. Nothing about it felt right.

20 was the worst. This was right after Colin Kaepernick started kneeling. I thought that was prime stuff for them to mock. Instead we got memeber berries.
25
u/HANDCRAFTEDD_ 8h ago
But they did mock it … can't make a whole season about kneeling but it was included.

Season 20 is the worst season. Too topical, even for SP, Butters is OOC, Cartman/Heidi BS, and Gerald is incredibly unlikeable.
Best part of the season is Kyle being a good boy.

Season 20 is definitely a low point. I think season 21 is also pretty bad.

Brother, this season has member berries and skank hunt... It was fucking gold compared to the shit we've seen over the last few years

Controversial opinion: 'skank hunt' isn't even worth a chuckle.

It got a single chuckle out of me though. But yeah. The whole season is down there with Pip imo

seasons 25 and 26. They were too short I remember waiting for season 25 to continue and then I realized that was it and I got pissed.
3
u/Jmacattack626 8h ago
I agree. I think all seasons have their moments, it's Southpark after all, but the ones that were extremely short were a huge disappointmen.

Why am I that liked season 20, I liked the over lapping story, thought it was a brave choice for a story

u/Samurai-lugosi 11h ago
Season 20 is the only season I skip. It just didn’t resonate with me at all.
4
u/No_Chocolate_7692 11h ago
I agree this season just didn't feel right and also barley had any jokes that made me laugh it's also my least rewatched season
-1
u/Samurai-lugosi 10h ago
It’s the only season where I thought “wow maybe the show is losing its magic”.
4
u/First-Lingonberry907 10h ago
I was not entertained with the member berries and Garrison being president storyline (I do like the Sons of witches episode and Heidi focused episodes after she gained weight and had a personality change). The Amazon/bike parade era was also a flop for me
5
u/No_Chocolate_7692 7h ago
I did like the Amazon bike parade 2 parter my favorite season 22 episode tho is Buddha box
1
u/First-Lingonberry907 2h ago
Oh yeah the Buddha box episode was okay. That whole season is such a blur I don’t even remember most of the episodes. I liked when other characters had their own episodes like the Pc babies, the moms of south park. Those were good!
5
u/Downtown_Argument_73 10h ago
The garrison trump ones. The story is just a mess, and the point is lost

u/THEREALOFFICALCAFE 8h ago
Not a great season, but it did get me really into Boston, so that was a plus.

as much as I love a lot of episodes and bits from season 6, I always dread it for having less Kenny. IT’S NOT A BAD SEASON just my least favorite
32
u/Halewba 10h ago
The past four seasons have had little to no Kenny
2
u/Electronic-Math-364 3h ago
Kenny probably didn't take it really well that they "replaced" him in season 21 final
22
u/Style-Future Southpark Fan 10h ago
Season 6 was awesome IMO cos it’s when they introduce Butters as a more active character and they mess with him good.

How tf you disagree with an opinion? Not even an unsolicited opinion; You literally asked for it.
Some serious level of brain rot on display
11
u/No_Disaster_4188 9h ago
Do you eat paint? You can agree or disagree with an opinion; it is not like you are declaring it factually incorrect
10
u/Dangerous_Mood8647 9h ago
?? Did you just ask how someone could disagree with an opinion 😭? It isn't as if they said the opinion was shit or anything.
1
u/omg_Enrico_Palazzo 7h ago
Op is asking for opinions. So ask yourself, is it really reasonable to have someone answer the prompt and reply that you disagree whenever the exact season op is thinking of doesn't come up?
Not even promoting a conversation, he's just like "nah".
What's your favorite movie? When you figure it out, just know I disagree. It's YOUR favorite movie you literally can't be wrong. Moron
4
u/Dangerous_Mood8647 7h ago
But OP isn't saying that the opinion was wrong or anything. They aren't necessarily objecting to further conversation either.
They're just saying "I disagree" which is a valid response.

Season 20 but even then I don't consider it bad and it has its moments. I don't go back to it as often as the others though.

3
u/hmfynn 10h ago
You can even tell they didn’t want to continue season 20 after the election. But I give them a huge pass on that and think they did as good a job as they could’ve working with what they were suck with. The weirdest choice was probably Caitlyn Jenner as the stand in for Mike Pence. I never got what they were going for with that.
2
u/No_Chocolate_7692 7h ago
Ngl i do love they called the last episode of season 20 the end of serialization as we know it

I'd agree 20. I don't watch any of the early early stuff 1 thru prob 4 ..

I'm enjoying the current season. Anything that slags Trump off is golden to me. But where are the kids? The last episode featured Stan for about 30 seconds. I miss the interactions with the main four characters. Five, if you include Butters.
1
u/No_Chocolate_7692 7h ago
Im enjoying the new season to also sense they did end tegridy farms after seven years and a whole season dedicated to it so maybe we might see a episode with the four main characters again also im woundering if for season 27 it we will get a collectors dvd boxset again sense we haven't had one sense season 23
2
u/Decent_Diver_7475 8h ago
Just to be different, I’m gonna say season 2. Try naming 5 episodes of season 2.

How come no one ever says Season 25? Only The Big Fix was worthwhile. Pajama Day, Help My Teenager Hates Me and Back to the Cold War are all pretty bad imo. City People and the St. Patrick episode aren’t that good either. Made season 20 look like season 6.
1
2
u/MikeDubbz 6h ago
20, bar none. Nothing else comes close to the lows of that entire season.
But at least we know now, where the lowest bar is. As long as any given episode is better than anything from season 20, then they're on the right path.

Season 22 has 3 of my bottom 5 worst episodes and the high points weren't that great, so I'll go with that.
2
u/No_Chocolate_7692 7h ago
Season 22 did also start tegridy farms which i did like but at the same time they should've ended it a long time ago
4
u/Jmacattack626 8h ago
Season 26 had some good episodes, The World-Wide Privacy Tour and The Japanese Toilet, but it ended with only 6 episodes. That's a huge disappointment in my book and makes it the worst.

Most of the seasons after 20, obviously some were good but it was mostly just hit or miss
1
u/AsherFischell 5h ago
Definitely season 25 for me. Yes, it's one of the truncated seasons, but I think it only has one funny episode and the rest are some of the worst they've ever done. People can shit on season 20 for being serialized all day long, but it's still got more laughs and more interesting subject matter than most of the crap in season 25.

Personally, the twenty-third season. Aside from the episode dedicated to Scott Malkinson, which I really enjoyed (and is in fact one of my favorites), I found the rest banal, boring, and self-serving—in short, it felt like watching a recent season of The Simpsons!

The member berry season. Unless you followed it from the beginning, it became extremely difficult to understand what was happening in the show. I remember when it was first airing. I had fallen off from watching the show for a while, and trying to watch it during that time was nigh impossible because it all seemed so disconnected and completely different from the rest of the show

So far 27. But 26 if we’re only judging complete seasons. Still love the new ones. It the shows been on a slow and steady decline since probably season 17. Everything after that was just a little worse each season

The Stick of Truth was the last great thing to come out of South Park.

You didn't like tfbw? Imo it was funnier in every way. A noticeable improvement on the first.

I really loved both of those games. Didn’t like snow day but those 2 are 2 of my favorite games ever made
1
u/me239 10h ago
You're being downvoted cause thinking these aren't the best episodes ever makes you a Trump supporter or something... Honestly, this is the weakest season by far and feels like a shitty one-sided Twitter feud from Matt and Trey. It's 3 episodes in and each has revolved around Trump. It's honestly played out and so tiring. Think of how all the previous seasons have maybe 1 episode touching on large events. 9/11, one episode. The 2008 recession? 1 episode. Obama elected? 1 episode. Like it's not even that he's a reoccurring now, the episodes literally revolve around him and his administration. Just come up with something funny again instead of Trump dick jokes.

Not saying it’s not good just not the same. One issue is I’ve Felt like it’s been revolving around politics for years now. Loved it at first but it’s been starting to get plaid out in my opinion.
2
u/No_Chocolate_7692 11h ago
I can see what you mean but also let the season finish and season 26 didn't that season not have anything political until like the final episode?
2
u/Longjumping-Algae-66 11h ago
It didn’t but it was also only 6 episodes. I liked them but if you go back to season 17 or 18 they don’t come close in my opinion. I did love the 5th episode but the rest were just ok
1
u/Thy6LittleRings 11h ago
Season 20 was a bit of a disappointment. And honestly began turning me off from the series entirely.

Season 20 is funny. I really don’t get the hate. Y’all need to rewatch it.
2
u/Sobotoc4311 5h ago edited 5h ago
Actually i just did. Its still the worst and I hate it even more in retrospect. Something is weirdly off with the point of reference on shots and how long dialogue takes. Its something I noticed in the stick of truth video game as well but was noticeably absent in tfbw, which imo is the funnier of the two but the worse game if that makes sense. It just has this weird pause. And if the show had a camera filming it, it seems like that season was shot by a weird action film director. Nothing about it feels right, and the comedy is noticeably dumbed down if not completely nonexistent. But, to each their own. I can see how some might like some of the style choices in how it appears and the noticeable upgrade in the graphics department. But to me its jarring like new aqua teen.
1
u/No_Chocolate_7692 5h ago
Yeah the new aqua teen hunger force season being well animated caught me off guard also south park being referenced in American dad was also jarring to see

The current season, so far, has been absolutely dire. I've been watching the show since s1, life time fan - I've never been so bored. Recycled jokes, nothing going on... nothing thought provoking or memorable... shocking.
Season 20 was also pretty bad tbf, and s19 for that matter, but I still got a few laughs here and there.

Season 20 did screw the pooch a bit by not having a back up plan. I remember enjoying the season a bit before the result of the election derailed the season.
