Severely Underestimated The Spice of These

Post image

Got these because I love super spicy food and jarred pickled items. Started eating them and at first was like “wow delicious!” Then after about 5 I was like “WOW these are actually hot”. Definitely in the rotation, great with a tuna melt btw.

Habanero oil drenched cherry tomatoes

My wife is making focaccia and made habanero oil from our garden habaneros. She soaked the tomatoes and rosemary in the habanero oil for the focaccia and I’m just having some leftover tomatoes for a snack. Good stuff.

Tastes pretty good I’d say like a 7/10 in terms of heat, can’t really taste the garlic. It was also 15$ for this tiny bottle at local giant

Not spicy but not the worst taste

They're not terrible, I think they taste more like pizza then anything hot sauce wise. I get no spice at all or I'm just desensitized. They are probably good in tomato soup!

I was not ready for Mike

I’ve been eyeballing “hot honey”s forever and have heard good things. So I finally went looking for it and of course when I saw “extra hot” I was ready. I whipped up a fried chicken sandwich and was GENEROUS with the honey. My mouth is on fire in such a wonderful way right now. This stuff is solid. Never going back. A-tier heat

I had a decent pull at the farmers market last week. Shishitos, an Aji, mini habanero nips, and a whole lot of bonnets 😋

Posted a few days ago about finding these sauces and was advised to get the other superhots. Had to go back but unfortunately they only had two bottles and had no more 'reaper as I was going to buy more.

Will update on heat levels after weekend when I get home.

Pepper seeds mixed up...

Bell and jalapeño were easy to identify, but I am struggling identifying some of the hots due to a seed mixup. Based on what I have I think it could be either be bhut jolokia (probably not?), carribbean red habanero, or trinidad scorpion (I think I got these at the farmer market).

Thoughts?

I think 1, 2 could be trinidads and 3 is habanero? Idk

Scorpion Salsa

This year I decided to grow Trinidad Scorpion peppers to make an extra spicy salsa. I always use the recipe linked below but I only use 2 cups of onion, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and I add 4 spicy peppers. Usually I use habaneros, but this year I decided to up my game. I like flavor of the scorpion as much as the habanero, although I can't devour a jar in one sitting. I also have habanero, jalapeno, ghost, cayenne, spicy jane and reaper peppers growing. I would love to hear any good recipes for a hot sauce using any of those pepper combinations.

Canned salsa with my mom today and wanted to get rid of a bag of frozen Carolina Reapers from my freezer. I keep describing it as a monkey paw wish. It’s spicy and it hurts my stomach

I fermented for 9 months. Looking to make hot sauce.

I fermented two regular sized mason jars worth of reaper, garlic, onion, green peppers in a salt brine. Grilled all first. Not sure how to proceed. I have no mold and about a full mason jar total of product. Thoughts?

Spicy cream pasta with sausage, noodles, habanero, colored peppers, ghost pepper rotel (which is bomb as fuck) crushed red pepper flakes, onion, garlic.

l sautéed that in a habanero garlic oil I made a while back with some beef tallow from a brisket I trimmed not long back, then I added cream cheese, milk butter and the noodles and simmered until noodles were almost done then added a 1/3 block of pepper jack cheese. Mmmmmmmmmm.

It was fine. If I were at the Melinda’s shelf again, I would probably go w/ the XXXX Reserve. I think you’re sacrificing flavor for heat here.

I am really big on texture and cannot stand storebought pickled jalapeños. Saw someone's post from a restaurant that had homemade ones and realized "Holy shit why have I never done this!?"

Low caloric foods to pair with hot sauce?

Hello, so I have been putting buldak spicy sauce on ramen. I only like spicy ramen because of the spice. Tbh, eating it makes me feel unhealthy and i eat it so fast yet it is alot of calories for only getting like 4 bites out of it.

TLDR: What are some good, healthy (ish) foods to eat with spicy sauce? I want to be able to eat alot without it feeling like too much food or unhealthy/high in calories. (Im not a big fan of carbs)
