Ya I was at home cracking up. There were obviously some jokes that I thought fell flat, but overall I was loving it. Gillis’ humor is classic “if I say this while chilling with friends at their house we’d all be having a great time.” But tell those same jokes at your companies all hands meeting, and no one’s laughing and you might get a call from HR in the morning

I guess that’s my issue. His jokes seem like things me and my friends would write in a group chat, I kinda like my comics to do better than me and my dumb friends

Idk man. Sure a lot of his material is bro humor, but his history bits kill me every time. Imo he comes off as your really funny friend, who’s smarter than he lets on.

The appeal is that no one can do it like he can on a national stage, all while getting away with it. Plus, I guarantee his jokes are better delivered (and written) than your buddies on a couch.

I didn’t specifically listen to his set last night, so I can’t say.

“getting away with it” as in not getting cancelled for his jokes that may cross lines. Such as the topic of this post.
