Like a girl’s trip to Cancun, right now there’s no D.

u/OatmealCremePiez Jul 20 '25

Yeah well my ex wife found D on a girls trip to Cancun

u/temujin94 Jul 20 '25

Your ex-wife could find D in a Nun's covenant on the Greek Isle of Lesbos.

u/Muthafuckaaaaa Jul 20 '25

Hi, it's me. I'm the Greek Isle of Lesbos.

u/Street-Run4107 Jul 20 '25

Sorry about that dump I took on your shore. Bad souvlaki I think.

In the sixties, a Swedish comedian, Hasse Alfredsson, improvised the line: “My parents were from Lesbos. Both my mom and my…mom.”

THIS! IS! LESBOS!

She got back and hit me with the “I don’t love you, and I never have” so I was like wtf. She left the house so I could pack my things, but she left her laptop. I read her iMessages and bam, some used jewelry salesmen from Jersey was all up in it

20

u/Apprehensive_Rub3897 Jul 20 '25

Damn. Your gain. She could have lied for month/years, instead saved you a lot of time. Hope all is well with you now.

19

u/killer_reindeer Pittsburgh Steelers Jul 20 '25

7

u/Thewall3333 Jul 20 '25

Ah this is before my time -- what's the big deal? It's not like he actually pulled his pants down. It's not like he mentioned it was inappropriate and moved on, he wanted about it for 30 seconds. Receivers used to do that X-chop thing with their forearms against their waist doing a humping motion, which seems worse.

Guess Joe Buck is a prude, as are the people upset with this commentator. Like most of these kinds of things, no one would probably even notice if the critics didn't bring so much attention to it. Anything that probably flies over kids' heads isn't a big deal, and adults who care anyway are just showing they're lame with no real problems.

18

u/Carl_Lindenburg Jul 20 '25

Buck is on record saying he believes that is the worst call of his career and he regrets the overreaction.

8

u/destinythrow1 Jul 20 '25

For some reason this call pops into my head all the time lmao

The worst part is Joe Buck didnt seem to know that there is a tradition in Green Bay where fans moon the opposing teams bus as it arrives. Moss was poking fun at that, it was hilarious.

I can't be the only thinking that that was a tame joke.

Who hasnt said worse?

538

u/HuluAndRelax Jul 20 '25

It’s the fact that it was aired on ESPN more than anything I think. It’s not on brand for them to make crude jokes.

293

u/ztkraf01 Jul 20 '25

Shane Gillis’ monologue at the espys a few nights ago was more inappropriate and approved by Disney so I don’t see what’s wrong with her joke

110

u/QuakinOats Jul 20 '25

There's nothing wrong with it. Like at all.

It's subtle enough that the people it could even be considered inappropriate for would never understand. There are far worse lyrics on public radio everyday all day.

22

u/dicjones Jul 20 '25

Can confirm. My 80 year old mother did not call me to ask about that joke. But she did text me to complain about the defense. I had to explain to her it’s an all-star game, this is what they do. Her response: “Boring game”. lol.

I have never watched a full NASCAR race in my life, but I am aware that Dick Trickle raced throughout the 90s thanks to Sportscenter, so this joke is definitely on brand for them.

u/joluboga Jul 20 '25

They know that no one's watching anyway.

73

part of the reason why i think this was good. wnba will always just be a "worse nba" if they don't do something different than them

u/Wapow217 Jul 20 '25

Change ESPN to WNBA and you'd have a good argument.

ESPN couldn't careless about this joke. This is the company that has Pat McAfee's podcast as a daily show now.

Had this been said at the NBA all star game it would be non-news.

The fan base of WNBA though can be more triggered by this kind of joke compared to the NBA.

5

u/obliquelyobtuse Jul 20 '25

People just love to be offended these days

Which people? Everyone in here basically thinks it was amusing. Are we talking about "them", the other people not here, who were watching the WNBA game and were outraged to hear it and are now writing letters (posting) about it?

OP appears to be a human with a serious Reddit habit who loves to accumulate Karma with witty posts. So OP isn't offended either.

Literally nobody is offended except some who didn't watch that game, or ESPN, or WNBA, and they only hear about it third hand, days or weeks later, and then think they're having a great social 'take' on crudeness in cable TV.

Also, being offended and complaining about things is literally as old as human society. Has always been going on, will always be going on. Just a question of who is complaining about what and why.

2

u/Legionnaire11 Jul 20 '25

Yeah, I'm doing a full rewatch of the Simpsons right now and it's shocking how much sexual humor there is in it that I didn't remember from the original run. I want my kids to be able to watch it, but basically every episode has multiple sex jokes.
