Yeah, he went to some indie show and was backstage, Stuart Smith approached Raja Jackson in character, did some posturing and and popped a beer can on Jackson's head. Not sure if this was set up before hand and the can was 'gimmicked' to not hurt as much but Jackson and Smith had to be separated and things looked to have cooled off. But when the actual match is going on is time for Jackson to do this thing, he slams Smith down and just started throwing haymakers on Smith, shattering his face and Smith reportedly died in ring but was resuscitated before being taken to the hospital. His current condition is unclear. https://youtu.be/m7TZ6t9doTc?si=UWLi3UI5qDpTBv6o

Nah, Father and son fighting in a parking lot is Ireland’s national pastime. They are just engaging in local tradition that goes back generations, as long as they share a pint of the black stuff after and shake hands without ever sharing their feelings or emotions with each other.

I wouldn’t be shocked if one of them bet on the game and when the Loss came the other called them an idiot and then it got to this point.
That or there’s some unresolved family tension they tried to put aside for Avery and then were like nah can’t do it once the game was over

u/Ha55aN1337 1d ago
English in not my first language and we do commas differently here, but my take is:
There is a Kansas State Quarterback.
His name is Avery Johnson.
He played a game against Iowa state.
The game was played in Ireland.
They lost.
He has a father and a brother.
They fought eachother after the game.
807
u/PriorStatement 1d ago
English is my first language and this makes sense to me. The headline is just poorly worded.
116
u/gen_alcazar 1d ago
To be honest, that's exactly how I read it, but I was still confused. Why, you ask?
- American College football in Ireland! Wha??
- Father and son fighting of the quarterback fighting?? In the street?
49
u/head-home 1d ago
There's a college game played in Ireland every year.
Can't really comment on the second bullet point.
31
u/P-Funkadelic1723 23h ago
As a second generation Irish American, the answer to bullet point two is Ireland
31
u/head-home 23h ago
as an irishman, my answer here is just americans doing america.

u/AnybodySeeMyKeys 21h ago

Doesn't Ireland have football hooligans? I tell ya I go to Ireland and ask for a shamrock shake from McDonald's I'm an "uncultured swine." I try to share in the rich Irish culture of beating on a family member after a sporting event, I'm also "uncultured swine." Ain't no winning with some people.
6
u/stateside_irishman 16h ago
There is not a culture of football hooligans in Ireland. Football (soccer) is not the most popular sport. In fact, it's not even in the top 3.
→ More replies (3)11
u/Malvania 21h ago
I read it as (1) the quarterback, (2) Avery Johnson's father, and (3) Avery Johnson's brother were all involved in a fight.
Yes, the title is missing commas, but doing it properly, Oxford comma or not, would not help comprehension. It's just poorly written.
It would have been better if they omitted "Avery Johnson" and just said that the quarterback's brother and father fought
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)8
u/mrjimi16 1d ago
The wording was fine, it just had an apostrophe "s" and a random comma it didn't need.

What I gathered is that Kansas State’s starting quarterback was fighting the brother and father, who must be in his mid ‘80s by now, of former basketball player and coach Avery Johnson in a parking lot.

177
u/ComprehensiveAd8166 1d ago
It actually is. Our national sport (football/hurling) is played at venues across the county (main area holds 80,000 people) without segregated seating or any significant need for police presence outside of for traffic control purposes.

After looking at OP’s posts I’m going to go out on a limb and say the profile is some sort of bot/AI. I’m usually not one to judge people but literally every single person I’ve known that has as much interest in anime as OP’s account does literally gives zero fucks about football let alone college football, a schools starting QB’s name, and knowing that the starting QB’s father and brother are fighting in another country.

I mean, this guy basically says he can't control himself in the article, and had to be sat in the corner by himself in order to not routinely blow up and cause issues at sporting events.
I'm blaming old man here, son was probably just trying to direct the anger at himself and keep the old fuck from killing some random.
Such a disgrace of a man.

These are supposed to be schools of higher education, but in reality, they're just making money as a farm system for the professional sports machines, and content to sell booze, gambling, sports gear, sports drinks, video games, cars, trucks, insurance, and junk food.
This behavior is a byproduct of communities with nothing held higher than religion and sports.
It's toxic.
