it depends, if I'm doing reading/writing assignments I'll turn on lofi, but I do classical/edm for math.

I switched to live albums from can, tangerine dream, etc. still preferable if there’s no vocals but it’s a lot less uniform and blends in a lot easier to whatever I’m reading

For me personally some Heavy Metal or Rap music to really get into the rhythm of studying.

When I'm way too saturated and tired, some Chopin's Nocturnes, or Mozart really helps. Never really been into lofi beats though.

I would say classical, but the more chill kind. Not mozart

I always go lo-fi beats, one of my faves is Tommy Guerrero, or try his radio station on spotify. Won't disappoint.

Lo-Fi beats, classical is too engaging.

The Jazz in the Background playlist was my go to for when I needed to study for an exam, and now for when I need to focus for work

Maybe it's the ADHD but my productivity increases tenfold when I'm listening to punk at work, rather than Lo-fi OR classical. I get very distracted if I don't have music to mouth along with and punk tends to have just the right energy to keep me hyped up and thinking. I can also see how having songs with lyrics can be incredibly distracting to other people, though. And then on the other hand, people with an inclination to tapping their fingers along to beats will be distracted by either one, etc etc, so:

TLDR: It depends on the individual listening.

I listen to Metallica sometimes while working. Other times instrumental or classical. I think it depended on mood and what your body/mins needs that day

Don't want to break the mood but according to a lot of recent studies, studying while listening music decrease the productivity, even with a background music style that we don't really enjoy. I completely understand the need to feel the blank let by the silence because we're all overstimulated everytime, but if you really care about focuse and productivity, i think no music would be better (however i also often listen to music while studying, nobody's perfect)

Interesting… is this even with instrumental music? I’d love to read a study if you have a link to it
