The Warning are my favorite new rock band of the last 10 years.

3 sister band from Mexico, outrageously talented, top tier songwriting.

https://youtu.be/j13uxB6fDvk?si=VbrOBSxb2AO9TSx0

They really shine as a live band:

https://youtu.be/s6b_FgQnXL8?si=llEEqm9wjK5wO_uI

All of them sing, and the drummer sometimes sings lead.

Also, they toured with Halestorm several times. Lzzy Hale gifted a custom Gibson Explorer to Dany (TW’s guitar player and lead singer).

Which is how I discovered The Warning, a couple of years back. Now, I’ve seen them live 3 times and I buy the merch \m/

u/Daerini 20h ago

A couple of their songs were already in my favorites, so I need to listen to the rest. Thanks

Bands like Spiritbox and Calva Louise are fronted by female vocalists, and Kittie is entirely led by women. This playlist mostly has female fronted bands, not all of them, but if you look through it, you’ll definitely find a couple of songs c:

Say no more. I have a few playlists themed around this. None are much like Halestorm or Poppy, but you might dig 'em all the same.

Avril Invented Punk
Originally created to poke fun at the gate-keeping punk community, I actually genuinely enjoy this collection of poppy aughts "punk" themed around Avril Lavigne.

Cruella's Burn Book
Scathing riffs and vindictive punk for vengeful vixens by women who rock (late '70s or early '80s).

The Rick Mitchell Special: A Mitchells vs. the Machines Playlist
If you've seen the movie, this is a playlist designed to feel like a cross-country road trip mix made by Katie Mitchell. Not the soundtrack, but rather a playlist built around the movie's inclusion of Bangs' "I Want More." (Almost) all female artists (there might be one or two tracks with male vocals).

Asian American Women of Indie Rock
As described, great bands fronted by talented AAPI women (mostly in the "indie" vein). Unfortunately (but understandably), missing Deerhoof.

The '90s Were Female vol. 2
A collection of alternative rock from women in the 1990s (the first volume that I made was more alternative/pop).

Alternative Queens
While this is in more of the "trip-hop" vein, here is a playlist of PJ Harvey, Bjork, Tori Amos, and similar artists of that era.

I would also recommend Snõõper, a weirdo female-fronted "Egg Punk" band from Nashville.

Kalidia! I'd recommend Circe's Spell as a first song to get acquainted with them. The group is Italian but sings in English, so it does come through at times that English isn't their first or main language.

The main singer is a woman and she has an amazing voice. Hope you give them a listen and enjoy!

u/Impossible-Agent-318 12h ago

White Lung and Estrons don’t get nearly enough love in these threads. Both are long gone and definitely had more of an underground edge, but they’re absolutely worth your time.

Also, pretty much anything Brody Dalle touched is gold. The Distillers get mentioned a lot, but her solo work is seriously underrated.

Duchess Says - start with their Anthologie... Album. High energy punk. They call it Moog Rock and the synth gives it a real aggressive, unique sound. It's not pop punk.

Hole - I like their first 2 albums best.

Meg Meyers

Myrkur

Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Mariner album. Metal with a sci fi flavor. I highly recommend.

Evanescence - Thoughtless. It's an awesome Korn cover.
