I really doubt that at the time Caracalla was seen as the bad, since that he gave the citizenship to everyone through an edict. At the time was like a blessing from gods.

He was also very well known for killing people. Contemporary historians only mention the citizenship in passing. That said there was a current then that all emperors that were disliked by the aristocrats were called bloodthirsty, but Caracalla wanted blood. He had his brother murdered if that's any indication. From Cassius Dio: "soldier first, emperor second"

In the time of Marcus Aurelius quills were not used for writing. Particularly not by Romans. They would have used reed pens (calami) in stead.
