Discussion De Bruyne on Pitches

I read an interview with him earlier in Italian talking about the tactical game and comparing coaches. I later saw an English translation and it had a quote from him saying Italian pitches are drier.

Do you all think this will affect his passing? The weight that he puts on it might be calibrated for more resistance and come out too heavy. Will be interesting to see if that's the case and how he adjusts.

I didn't read the interview, but there are two possibilities:

1) the quality of a pitch is directly linked to the quality of the league and money that the club can spend; and also the Italian weather with long periods at 30-40°C may be a factor.

2) it is a common trick for low tier teams that use ultra-defensive tactics to not sprinkle the pitch much when playing against some ball possession oriented team, to decrease the quality of the opponent.

I can attest to this.

Whenever me and my club would play away games, very often, we would be given the grass fields that were either super dry, or poorly maintained filled with holes and bumps, as we were used to playing on astroturf.

You can look at his stats in Italy during CL and international games. It doesn't seem to have affected his passing before...

Fair point, though in that case I wonder why he raised the topic if there wasn't an impact on play.

the ball probably will spin more and faster imo... it just matter of time until he used with it, the most important imo is how his teammats 100% can run without looking back.
