Support network
Hi there,
I've been in the area on and off for years but struggling to find a nice group of people. Been really hard if I'm honest...
My two children are a bit older so 9 and 11 and I do struggle a bit with my mental health from their Dad passing.
I'm looking for some sort of support network or what I can perhaps do to try and make some friendships.
Thanks
:)

There's a fantasy and sci-fi book club that meets monthly, and they're a lovely welcoming bunch! I believe the next meeting is this Sunday at 11am at Rhode Island. You're more than welcome to turn up.

If you're into running there's a good running club that goes from the Produce Hall every Thursday evening. Plenty of friendly people there you can chat to.

If you're interested in learning digital skills there's MadLab, this is not an AD, I did a free 6 week intro to web development course with them a few months ago and met a whole bunch of lovely people and made a couple friends after a few years of struggling with my mental health and not leaving the house often. It helped me get the confidence to get back in to work and take care of myself. I'd also follow redbullhillgate on Instagram, as they post a lot of community events on their stories and feed!

Look at the Manchester Girl groups - there are some for Stockport too aimed at people making friends if they don't know anyone in the area.
Edit: I think you can find these on Facebook

Sorry but saw your other post. I’d recommend you speak to your GP to get some professional help. Good luck x

yoga at Upward Frog has a really nice community. if you’re into crafting you can check out Manchester Wool and Yarn - another nice community with classes, meet-ups etc. both really welcoming!

I saw this recently and thought it might be nice, looks like a good turnout and book discussion is a good way to get people chatting! : https://www.thebooktaster.com/product-page/stockport-book-pudding-club

I get it. Life is very lonely sometimes. I don’t know the answer to anything but happy to chat. I’m ignorant as hell sometimes but at others I REALLY need instant contact but I really do understand the desire to spend time having human contact

which area of stockport are you in (roughly), not fishing for PI, just might make a difference.
There are some nice running groups in heaton moor.
