They talk a ton of shit about drugs coming in, but never say anything about who distributes the drugs once they're inside. Organized crime doesn't end at the border, but you always hear about foreign cartels and never domestic cartels. Sometimes I hear about a drug bust nearby of some warehouse and there's no information about who the people were, who they're affiliated with, their reach, etc. It's just "drugs were found, they just magically appeared and only 1 person is responsible". The degree to which the news and media and politicians are silent regarding organized crime makes me think they all have connections to it somehow even if it's just at the top and then that trickles down to create the silence. The drug trade within the US gets treated as if it's just a ton of random individuals and small gangs. That wouldn't be possible with the amount of volume coming in, the profitability of the trade and the size of foreign cartels. All the big names in the US in regards to organized crime seem to be from the 1920s and 30s, etc.

I used to work at a restaurant in Atlanta that employed illegals and people who were here on student visas and weren't supposed to have jobs. The owner would have all kinds of important people come by, he'd comp their food and drinks, hang with them, etc. We'd even be able to push the limits of occupancy during events because the fire marshal was one of those people he was buddy buddy with.
tl;dr, that's why they don't mention/fine the companies, because the owners of those companies are their friends probably most of the time.

Like when we hear about the instances where semi trailers full of undocumented migrants get abandoned or wrecked and kill a bunch of people. The drivers of those trucks sometimes get in trouble, but you never hear a word about where those trailers originated, or more importantly where they were headed. It's a shame I guess that we have a few rogue truckers who decide on their own to help facilitate mass undocumented immigration, and hoping that somehow they will make a profit off of it once they get to their destination.
I live near-ish a small town that had a major chicken processing plant open back in the late 90's. I worked as a reporter/editor at a regional newspaper at the time. The initial stories we ran were about how people in the area were very excited to get some of those jobs, and how it was going to be a great thing for the economy of that town. Cut to less than 5 years later, and the stories were about how that town, whose population had numbered in the mid thousands, had nearly doubled in size, and how now that town, which had been almost entirely white and American Indian before, was 40% Hispanic and was experiencing some cultural upheaval and violence. Neither was my story, and the paper chain I worked for never bothered to put 2 and 2 together. But the chicken processing company, who were famously large political donors to the president at the time the plant opened, were also major advertisers. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

At least they had the tact to be horrified by the actions in the press. Waco and Ruby Ridge were not used to denote good, successful police operations, they were synonymous with failure and government overreach.
If WACO happened today Trump and Bondi would be at a podium saying those people deserved it, it was a huge success, and 35-40% of the country would be bending over backwards to justify it to their friends and coworkers.
And that's a really fucking dangerous point to be at in history. The government will always kill its citizens, they have the monopoly on violence after all. It's when the leaders and a sizable portion of the country start championing those actions, with no push back from anyone else in government, that you need to start getting really worried.
If you weren't already.

The federal government detained, transported across the country, and imprisoned US citizens that had Japanese heritage during WW2 because they were accused of "possibly" being more loyal to their cultural heritage then the place they live or even grew up in. Did they get systematically executed? No, but taking from world history that seems like it would've been the next logical step had the war dragged out.

No, it's because not even 24 hours passed from Pearl Harbor before multiple American citizens of Japanese descent, that never lived or grew up in Japan, immediately betrayed the US and assisted Japan. It's called the Niihau incident. But you wouldn't know this because reading is not your strong suit.

If you guys are looking for an interesting historical fiction read, check out Don Winslows Border Trilogy (first book is called “The Power of the Dog”).
Basically it’s three books that talk about the drug war in Mexico from the 70s until today. They center around this guy Art who is this ex CIA war criminal who joins the DEA when it begins and how the drug war develops.
It’s historical fiction in the sense the characters aren’t real but they’re all based on real people and all the stories are based on real events with tweaks here and there.
More importantly the author isn’t writing DEA propaganda, but gets into how the drug war was basically just a long cover for anti communism. How corrupt both sides on the border are (Mexican and US govt), how the white collar finance types are heavily involved, etc.
The reason I’m bringing it up is that it’s a good and entertaining read that really gets the point across: the drug war is a fucking joke, and both sides across the border are corrupt as shit. Never trust a politician fighting the drug war on either side of the border. Also the good white collar finance types are even worse than the cartels

What kind of baby brain retard supports the United States but is against war crimes? That's all we do. Weapons grade racism, imperialism, war crimes. We're the best at it. That is our legacy. When will libs realize they're just self hating Republicans with better press?
8
u/BomberRURP Class First Communist ☭ 1d ago
The libs have an interesting line to walk. The thing about republicans is that no one gets into that side trying to do good. You become a republican with full knowledge you’ve betrayed the working class. That’s why I always say the republicans are the more honest of the two, they openly hate working people.
The libs/democrats also hate working people, but they pretend they don’t and that they care. This leads well meaning useful idiots to champion them as the good guys, and that’s what funnels membership into them. It’s not until they’re in a bit that they get corrupted and end up AOC-ing and such.
So the lib establishment must walk this fine line of fucking working people, whilst still being marginally better in very small ways and overplaying that as them being the good guys. Thus they’re bombing the Middle East to defend LGBTQ, meanwhile the right openly talks about the real estate opportunities

Kamala is a goon that knows the game, albeit didn’t play it so well. She knows the drug war isn’t real, but a means to exert control and in LATAM and a cover for counter revolutionary (or even reformist) activity in the region.
It would’ve been more of the quiet same old same old.
Trump and Vance are being way too loud to the point that it might very well undo the comfortable relation the Us state has with these groups and their backers in LATAM politics. If they go as far as they say they want, this will cause some severe destabilization in the region, that may very well allow openings for things they don’t want to happen.

I am not American, but I live in a country where the US intervened to back a murderous military dictatorship under the guise of fighting communism and they are back to the same antics. Latin America will bear the brunt of this administration’s decisions. It’s clear that extending the war on terror to cartels opens up a range of options for direct US intervention in many countries, especially since the region as a whole has been integrating more with China in the last two decades or so. Drone strikes, CIA-backed death squads, special operations, and regime change under the pretext of combating drug trafficking could soon follow.

what drug syndicate fills boats up with people instead of drugs?
Also- the leak that our military murders innocent people on boats coming out at the same time as this makes me think they just merkd a boat of random people.

u/snailman89 World-Systems Theorist 1d ago
The government has given no evidence that these were cartel members or that there were any drugs on the boat. Are you really willing to let the government execute people without a trial based on nothing more than "trust me bro, they were snuggling drugs"? If so, you're a sheep.
If a boat is carrying drugs, just stop the boat and search it. Seize the drugs and arrest the mules. There's no need to murder random people just because they are driving a boat.

no one is defending cartel scumbags
the point is you can't just go to another country and start killing people there.
would you be ok with chinese marines going to LA and killing some crypts or bloods?

the point is you can just go to another country and start killing people there.
The problem is that is basically what they are doing when they flood the streets with poison so isn't it just turnabout is fair play? I don't have much in this fight I am just trying to explain what I see being the logic.

We need to send the Mexican military to the States to fight the people sending guns to Mexico and giving criminals in Mexico money for drugs. Stop strengthening cartels with your drug abuse. It is ruining Mexico for good folks.

u/stathow Unknown 👽 1d ago
yes but again, would they accept the premise but in reverse? oh clearly fucking not, well then they don't actually believe in it, there is a literally 0% chance they would be ok with PLA troops coming to the USA and gunning down gang members
not to mention what a pandoras box to open. Someone, somewhere is doing horrible shit you don't like? fuck it just go kill them with no due process
by that logic i could just go gun down a whole lot of CEO goons who also literally poison and kill by the millions
The problem is that is basically what they are doing when they flood the streets with poison so isn't it just turnabout is fair play? I don't have much in this fight I am just trying to explain what I see being the logic.
you basically just asked "well they rob and kill people why shouldn't the US government do the same"

I agree it is stupid I was just trying to explain the logic. Like I said I don't really have anything in this fight I was just trying to play something akin to devils advocate.

dude there is no logic to it. thats why everyone looks like morons trying to defend it. there is no evidence they were bringing in drugs (if there was, these retards blew it up) and them trying to say drug trafficking is an act of terror is insane. people go to kensington to film youtube videos. no one seems to be terrified of drugs killing people. i refuse to label this shit as terror, it gives trump essentially unlimited military power. look at whats happening in israel and if you dont start to see the playbook of IDF denial and obfuscation being used to be able blow up boats indiscriminately, then i dont know what to tell you. the people in power will kill anyone and say they dont give a shit about it. i cant believe i have to say how horrible of a look that is.

no one here is defending terrorists. the average person didnt even know what cartel they were supposed to be from, but somehow they are terrorists? i dont know who they are but im terrified? im terrified of a boat in the middle of the ocean?
is this how we lose all of our rights? why are there people that are so dumb that they think "explosion produced by US bomb=stopping terrorism" are you that daft? just say you want to see explosions. but also, put away the computer and try to find out where you are getting exposed to lead first.

Aren't you guys all NYC wokies? You probably know multiple people that have died from fent laced coke, and you're defending the people that killed them?
11
u/GOLIATHMATTHIAS Liberationary Dougist 🍁 1d ago
Fent kills poor people because it’s cheaper to cut shit with fent or you just buy fent to get high instead of cleaner shit . Rich New York coke heads aren’t at risk because they’re not poor. Dealing with poverty would be a far better way of dealing with it than trying to stop it one boat at a time with several million dollars worth of munitions purchased from a for-profit company.

I don’t get why everyone is so mad about this. Well I do (because Trump) but of the list of war crimes the US has done this is nothing. Like sure I condemn it but the libs literally only care because Trump did it. Bush lied invaded a whole country and killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people and they’re rehabilitating him because he’s anti Trump.
The US has had flying robot assassins blowing up people in sovereign states without trail for two decades but because Trump blew up a boat now they are all outraged. None of these people care about American crimes they just want to own Trump. And for the people handwringing here what do you think Vietnam and China do to drug traffickers?
Like I get this is legally a little dicey but let’s remove the beam from our eye before worrying about the speck eh?

Yea that's not how designated terrorist organization works according to military doctrine and the law.
6
u/SirNoodlehe Homo erectus LARPing as a homo sapien 🦴 1d ago
The US position allows any level of force to be used against designated terrorist organisations but that's different to what most other countries/organisations rule.
Generally the UN and most countries are fine with it within the context of a theatre of war. When it's outside of a theatre of war and there's no imminent threat, it tends to get backlash and is considered extrajudicial killing by everyone except the US. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Marib_airstrike
Maybe you can learn a bit more from these ICRC case studies: https://casebook.icrc.org/case-study/united-states-use-armed-drones-extraterritorial-targeted-killings

I don't give a shit what the rest of the world thinks when it comes to defending Americas borders and our citizens from narco terrorists. It's pathetic how one side is once again, on the wrong side of things blinded by their hatred of Trump.

I think for a good portion of us, it's not about Trump and it's about extrajudicial killings.
The two cases I sent are about Obama-era drone usage and deserve just as much attention.

What happens when they decide you’re a “terrorist” for not eating ze bugs you dope? Or at the very least, are you gonna come bitching when several trillions of munitions are dropped on Venezuela only to see them collapse completely so they just launch SKUDS into Miami and Key West with no remorse?
It’s like you people woke up in 2018 and have no idea what the last 20+ years have been like.

To be frank, I think it's clear that at some point there is going to be a conventional war vs the cartels, and I don't think it matters what any "leftist" thinks, when the cartels are building up their own military-style forces and contest control over Mexican land, and happen to border a hawkish country with the biggest military budget in the world, a conventional war seems inevitable.
