Question What’s the best way to ask to have my sandwich more toasted? 🔥

I feel like my sandwich is always barely toasted here in NYC. It’s always done in something like 18 to 25 seconds but the bread and cheese is barely browned.

I don’t wanna be a duck about it and be all “can you toast it again” so is there common lingo among the staff for a better toast? Do I simply say “can you toast it for longer than 25 second?” every time 😅

Our toasters don’t go by times they go by portions so saying specific timing (like some customers do) isn’t that helpful since we can’t set it for a timer. Just ask for it extra toasted, it’s more straightforward.

I asked for double toast and the lady told me not to because it ruins it and she was so right

I would say double toasted or extra toasted. The reality is depending on the worker they’re just gonna toast it for as long as they want unless you keep telling them or specifically say I want it to look burnt or something. I usually see most employees pull it out before the timer is even done just for a speed thing. When I worked there, I would make the sandwiches for myself extra toasted because that’s the whole point. I feel like the normal Subway setting just warms everything up and makes it soft and really doesn’t toast. It’s unfortunate because the reason they even started doing it was because of Quiznos making such a big thing about it decades ago, but when Quiznos did it, they would run it through this oven conveyer open faced, and it would get a really nice toasted sandwich. I think the original ovens or settings from back then that Subway used did actually toast the sandwich more than they do now but maybe it’s a different ingredient thing than oven thing, but I have no idea. Maybe it’s just my memory. I certainly agree with you about the toasting though. I remember before the toasters Subway used to have to microwave all the chicken in little paper trays.

Just ask for it to be cooked like it’s 2 footlongs if it’s one footlong. Or a footlong if it’s a six inch. If it still doesn’t look good enough just ask em to throw it back in there for a little bit longer

You can honestly just ask for them to extra toast, double toast, just a little longer it really doesn’t matter. There’s a button for 10 seconds longer or you can just ask them to put through the same one twice ✌️

Ask them to toast the bread first. Then put the meat on and then toast it again

Lots of stores have toasters that need to be serviced. It’s expensive to repair. Many crappy owners don’t want to pay for repairs. They just don’t know how to run a business.
