Hired/Applying Should I work at Subway or Hungry Jack's
Got offers at Subway and Hungry Jack's. The Subway one is 1 hr away from where I live but it's at my uni so it's very close to my classes, and seems to have nicer management (HJ manager doesn't seem very nice). The Hungry Jack's is around 25min from where I live but it's in a red light district with lots of ppl doing drugs and obnoxious people.
The reason why I am hesitant on going with Subway is because I find it hard to speak loudly - when I went for the interview I kept having to repeat myself because they couldn't hear me. Is speaking audibly very important while working at Subway?
I figured if I work at Hungry Jack's I can work at the back and not have to speak to customers if that's a viable option? I feel like it'd be an inconvenience for Subway to employ me because of this.

Its totally up to you. Go for whichever you like better and whichever pays the most.
If you don't like interacting with customers, then hungry Jack's is the choice 😁
I know subway in america you end up working alone alot and you absolutely have to talk to customers at that point.

Thanks for the reply!! Yeah the main problem is ppl not being able to hear me while the store is busy lol
I'm in Sydney so I'm not sure if things are different here, might have to go to the store more often to see if I'll have to be working alone (since last time I went there were multiple people working)

Nice! And you're welcome for the reply!
I hope subway is far better in australia. They treat their employees so bad here no matter who owns that particular franchise.
Best of luck to you, friend ❤️

It totally depends on where you work. I worked at Subway for four years. The only time I was ever alone was for an hour right after I opened. Other than that I was with between two and three other people.

I live in a medium city and if it takes me more than 5 minutes to get to work im switching. An hour wow.

Burger restaurants are a lot more work and it gets a lot hotter in a kitchen that’s cooking food constantly. Just something to consider.

i have the same issue of not speaking up. my first week was hell because of it but once you realize you don’t have an option other than to speak up you’ll naturally do it. good luck in whatever you choose!

I’m assuming you are Aussie given the hungry jacks, I had a coworker who was really quiet in the beginning, we just told her to yell at the customers like they were her siblings lol. After a couple months she got used to it and is now one of our best employees. Subway would not have offered you the job if they didn’t feel you could do it.
In reality though, if you do not want to interact with customers I would not recommend subway, there is a good chance you will be left alone in the store. 😊
