Maybe I’m just narrow minded or short sighted or something , but I like the smaller geographic scope of the current comp, I don’t like the sound of this at all.

NZR need to build partnerships with Japan/USA, but i don't think this is the right idea. In NZ people seem to think we need to open eligibility to Australia, USA and Japan are far better markets.
