I understand the rifles but what's the deal with the linked .50 BMG up top? Macho intimidation factor?

Maybe they had a M2 mounted in their getaway vehicle. I remember seeing a bust years ago where they had an M2 mounted facing backward in the trunk of an SUV

Guaranteed entrance to Valhalla with the War Boys if you continue pursuit, though

They don't use these cars to escape, they use them to shoot at the engines of armored cars.

Brazil is one hell of a place man

Born and raised there, one of the reasons I will always be pro gun.
Insanely restrictive gun laws and yet that only serves to stop normal people from getting them, criminals can get anything they want easy as pie.

Wish some of my American compatriots had the same ability for logic that you do freind

I have a question about the Mini 14s at the top. Are those the ones that were put out specifically by a request of the CIA to fight in South America in the 80? I believe a hit was put out on the designer.

Some of those Mini-14's and I am pretty sure that underfolder at the bottom come from the US civilian market.
Sinaloa cartel with their local conections move drugs up and ship firearms down into the region. Dracos, WASRs, and cheap AR15's (what you would call pistols or SBR's) are very, very common in the region now. From time to time, CZ USA Vz. 58 rifles too.
The FAL rifles and the G3's are sourced localy, though.

How about ammunition? Local or imported?
16
u/matcardos Jul 24 '25
Brazilian guy here, that is probably local because we have CBC (Brazilian cartridge company) they produce the 556 and the 762

7.62 and 5.55 NATO are widespread and common. My bet is a lot is sourced locally or from local markets, but there is a posibility some of it may be sourced from the same traffic routes.

u/Thefireninja99 Jul 24 '25
Is the US the most common supplier?
2
u/theoneoldmonk Jul 24 '25
Brazil has important domestic ammunition capabilities. My knowledge (and public knowledge) goes as far as US civilian market firearms.
Unsure about imports.

You're thinking of the M14K. And that was in Columbia I'm pretty sure.
Also, Mini-14s are pretty common rifles. They also didn't have polymer stocks in the 80s. Thats just some Mini-14 that got smuggled down there.

Wasn't that for the custom š¤ M14 with folding stock?

The Brazilian police specialized in rapid response are, unexpectedly, professionals.

I can assure you that there's no escaping the specialized police and the state, even after the robbery. These units were formed due to the increasing bank robberies since the dictatorship. You may even run away initially, but they will definitely find you.
2
u/pablo_aleatorio Jul 27 '25
These units I mentioned are militarized and often have police officers who are former members of special operations in the armed forces, and receive special operations training, some with counter-guerrilla training, it would be a difficult game.

What is that G3 Mag? It looks like someone put a G3 feed tower on an FAL mag?
Some Brazilian made thing? I heard Brazilian paratroopers used G3s.
2
u/pablo_aleatorio Jul 25 '25
The Brazilian air force infantry uses HK33, I've never heard of G3, currently the army paratroopers use the imbel ia2, the marines use m16, and the air force paratroopers use Hk33

u/tghost474 Jul 24 '25
That poor G3
3
u/FrostyWheats Jul 25 '25
if thatās what I think it is on the G3 I see why it was a failed bank robbery

Is that an FNC?
2
u/Select_Anybody1586 Jul 26 '25 edited Jul 26 '25
I dont think so, but I'm not sure what it is. it screams FN for sure.
The charging handle is on the left side while fnc and fn cal would be right side. The handguard is also throwing me off. Maybe some type of South Asian variation or some kinda garage gunsmithing?
Edit: Oh, duh. The Imbel. Made in Brazil even. Thank you, other commenters

One, I wonder if the AKs sight got folded forward like that before or after being captured.
Second, that FAL barrel looks a little bent, wonder what the accuracy on it was
2
u/TACPAK Jul 25 '25
These arenāt bank robbers they are the āAā team. They let themselves be caught to be put into the prison go get someone out who was wrongful accused of a crime they didnāt commit by a corrupt system. š¤£

Uh, that seems really sufficient to succeed. How did they fuck up so bad they didn't win?
2
u/Blankcanva69 Jul 26 '25
Honestly, they problaby got killed during a confrontation with the police after the heist. When this kind of thing happen the police forces come out of everywhere.

Eyeballing that rifle, 4th one down.
14
u/Avtamatic Jul 24 '25
Yeah some South American countries played around with converting FALs to 5.56 with Stanag mags. Ian has a video on an Argentine example.
5
u/jizzled_cereal Jul 24 '25
Thatās what I was confused about. Didnāt understand what I was looking at there
3
Jul 24 '25
Thanks, I'll have to look it. The pistol grip looked a little to FAL to be there and the rifle seemed to something like an AR-180 just not sure. Too many rifles having one night stands without protection.
