I’m so tired of seeing people ask what else do they need. So I’ll give you a basic packing list that applies across the board. These are the baseline items you need to have in or on your second line be proficient in to be able to navigate, coordinate and survive. I will provide links to some items as well.

THREE SEPARATE MAPS: One within 100 miles (this is more for understanding all reasonably local msr, asr and non paved routes), 25 miles, and another within 3 miles of your home. These are interchangeable but I would keep the 3 mile map on your 2nd line. The rest can go in your pockets or bag.

Yes because restraints should be able to be passed around. If someone runs out you need to be able to restrain someone without improvising. Also EVERYONE needs to be able to forcibly enter gates or doors due to the volatility and dynamic nature of taking contact. It’s easy to get cornered or need to make a route for yourself.

Mission dictates gear, not the other way around. If I'm working as an urban cop, I don't need beads to pace count. Conversely, if I'm aircrew in the military, I probably want that in my kit for SERE.

Flex cuffs suck. Try putting them on an uncooperative person solo, it’s not gonna happen. You have to take your hand off of their wrist in order to put them on.
