Question Does This Mean I Need Glasses?

Recently purchased my 1st LPVO, and after adjusting the diopter, I noticed that I was able to achieve a slightly clearer image on 1X than I can ever possibly get with my unaided eyes, no matter how long I stare at a distant target.

Is this something I've done wrong with the scope setup, or is it just that the scope diopter is adjusting for a slight imperfection in my vision?

go get your eyes checked, bud.

I learned I needed glasses after jokingly putting a friend's pair on and suddenly the whole world got clearer

Dawg lemme tell ya, actually noticing the individual leaves on the trees after getting glasses for an aligmatism hits different. I was driving to work one night and couldn’t figure out why i suddenly couldn’t read street signs or why all the lights looked so angry. I’ve had glasses for 9 months and now when i take them off, i have no idea how i drove or functioned before.

I mean, it's nowhere near that bad.
I'm talking about a *slight* increase in the readability of some writing on the side of a water tower that was more than a mile away, or the ability to clearly see a cable that was like 500 yards away that I wasn't otherwise able to pick up on.

Okay. I think it’s still worth getting checked. I thought my vision was fine until I put glasses on.

I agree with that get checked people...but...almost no LPVOs are truly 1x they're usually 1.-insert tiny decimal here- which would definitely let you see justa bit better than you're used to.

If your eyes aren’t terrible, a good optometrist can correct your vision back to a time you don’t even remember. 20/12 or 20/14 is easily possible.

People with NVG and Gucci Optics who squint at the restaurant menu, this is your sign.

I have terrible eyes (contacts -9.5 last time I had an eye exam, which was almost 20 years ago) so I’m not a good counterpoint to your situation. But I totally agree, I just got my first LPVO (pst gen ii) and everything is much much sharper at 1x. That’s one of the reasons I got this specific optic though, watched a few video reviews that described it as “sharper than reality” or “more clarity than real life” and that’s exactly what it is.

I’m not sure it necessarily means you need glasses, I think the scope lenses increase the contrast and sharpness through math and physics and shit. But also it couldn’t hurt to get your eyes checked.

From what I’ve read adjusting the diopter only adjusts the sharpness of the reticle, the glass itself stays constant. I need to double check that but I’m pretty sure that’s true.

Yearly eye exams, even just to check eye health, are worth it. If you do need corrective lenses, you’ll appreciate being able to see the world in full hd more than you hate glasses/contacts.
