Weapons/Tactics Where my shooters at?

Anybody else shoot competition? Sometimes I’ll run full kit, some days just a belt. Curious how the tactical / practical minded shooters equip during matches as opposed to the USPSA nerds with the dedicated match belt :p

Used to shoot a lot of local action pistol and 2 gun matches. My favorite was shooting Desert Brutality matches under Armor +P division. You run a plate, carrier, helmet, IFAKS, and 2 liters of water for each stage. But then I had twins about a year ago. So no matches for me..

Dang I wish we had that here. I travel a lot for the big AK matches like Kalashnicon and Bash, but I’ve not gotten to do a brutality yet.

Indiana

Thought that looked a lot like Wildcat Valley. Shot a PCSL 2gun match there last August. There are a lot of us that shoot in the area. Mostly down in the southern part of the state and northern KY. wildcat 2gun

That’s exactly where it is. They’ve got a really nice range

I’ve actually been thinking about that one next year.

It’s a crime they stopped doing the Ostfront AK matches in Illinois.

I mean with their AW ban they don’t have a choice lol. But I agree. Never got to go

Run a 47 or 45 from a safariland. With my magwell I’m forced into limited which sucks. Is what it is.

I’ve thought about going to a USPSA. I avoided them for years since they banned the low ride. But I heard they finally lifted that ban

Yea, I run a duty rig and have no problems. Recently just got a custom scoop holster for my 45, but I need more time on it. I’m slower on it which is odd since there is really no retention.

I’ve run Glock for so many years, but the department I’m going to be starting on in the spring is hard on the 320…. Not sure what I’m gonna do lol. Nice thing with the QLS is I’ll at least be able to keep the belt set up for this

Ditched QLS. Went with the bladetech tek-mount. Can fine adjust it and has a higher tolerance

I run competitions as a benchmark for how my training is going. Full kit minus the plates

And I am ecstatic to see someone else running a magnified optic. I too get all the funny looks from the high-speed guys for running my mock12 at “practical stages”, until I clean up on the inevitable 1-200yd monkey-wrench-in-the-gears stage

Oh yes we do 300 yards about every other month and magnification is king

Nice run. I committed to do at least a match a month this year. I’m on target to keep up with it and also got a membership at the club just up the road.been doing USPSA and I’ve been seeing improvement, even if my rankings are shit. Nothing like shooting an intro match with a bunch of sweats to really show you how good you actually aren’t. 😂

My guys have been shooting PCSL lately, I wanna get after one of those soon also. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

Oh yeah the average gun owner highly over estimates his own effectiveness. I’m still a long ways from taking first place

I want to say InRange does woodland brutality in West Virginia.

Partizan, Light Armored, Armored +P, and Trooper divisions all have specific gear requirements.

We are very much not a USPSA match.

My video from the last one in 2025.

Couldn’t pay me to attend one of his events lol.

Nutnfancy out here with his 4-16x optic shooting 20yd targets.

LPVO are gay. lol. But yes it’s an SPR, but I’m using the red dot on top for this stage. PCSL has stages that go to 300 yards, and this is my go to gun. So I want to be effective with it at all ranges.

I like it light so it’s a micro chest rig and belt, I will however rock the absolute dog piss out of some tiger stripe pants tho

cross-dominant eyes or just ambidextrous?

1

u/Polish_AK_Alfa 4h ago

Yeah left hand right eye

Genuine question. Why is your optic so giant for a course like this?

4

u/Meatsmudge 16h ago

RMR piggyback.

4

u/Damon_23 16h ago

Some stages at that range have some distance. wildcat longer range stage

u/AlternativeLack1954 10h ago

Cool thanks

What they said. It’s got a red dot on top for NODS and close range. I’m not using the scope for this at all.

But also because I don’t build guns for CQB, I built a practical use rifle that can be used efficiently at CQB if needed, thus I’m training to be effective with this set up at all ranges.

Sounds so obvious when you put it that way! Ha very cool. Looks like a blast

Yeah it’s a good time. For years I’ve run exclusively eotechs with 3x magnifiers on basically everything. This was my first time competing with an optic stack like this. Also my first match not running an AK lol
