I went to check out the conservative sub to see what they think of this. No article. No discussion.

539

u/FreneticPlatypus 1d ago

My uncle was a hardline maga fan and whenever he was faced with proof he was wrong or that Trump was the shitheel he is, he’d just turn away and say, “Well I don’t know anything about that.” He didn’t want to know. It’s easy enough for them all to cherry pick what belongs in their reality.

174

u/bluemaciz 1d ago edited 1d ago

It really is always that line - “well I don’t know about that.” Like feigning ignorance somehow absolves them of doing any critical thinking.

18

u/pagerussell 1d ago

At that point you tell them this is what they value, these are their principles, and if that's the case, you can no longer be in my life, because I am not going to tolerate people who believe hateful things.

4

u/ToastedWave 1d ago

I recall a group of people back in the 40s or something that also said they didn't know about a bunch of atrocities....hmmmmm

2

u/tom-branch 1d ago

Its either that or they pretend they are above the argument "I deign not to debate with you anymore!"

86

u/InternetGoodGuy 1d ago

I get this all the fucking time from MAGA family.

"I'm telling you about it. So now you know. What do you think?"

They just wave it away and start asking what I think about some stupid culture war thing that isn't happening. Like CRT in grade schools or schools pushing kids to be trans. It's impossible to talk to them about any of this.

16

u/PizzaInMyBread 1d ago

Same here. I gave up. I only expect the die-hard MAGA in my life to actually care when the shit lands on their doorstep and there's no more denying it. It's how they've been in the past with many issues unfortunately.

2

u/bungerman 16h ago

What exactly would have to land on their doorstep? The Greater Depression?

12

u/ArmedAwareness 1d ago

I cut contact with my magatarded family.

1

u/salazafromagraba 19h ago

Praise to you broski

56

u/buckyb4dg3r 1d ago

Or claim “well [insert Dem candidate] would be even worse!”

Source: my MIL

7

u/FibonacciSequester 1d ago

My go-to response for that bullshit is, "Do you not know how reality works?"

I haven't gotten an answer yet.

35

u/illecebra_games 1d ago

What he means is "I haven't been given any talking points on that."

Anytime there's a surprising development, you see the silence and confusion among conservatives, often for days, until their pre-approved talking points are handed down.

But some subjects are too dangerous to even issue talking points on. The propagandists decide it's better to just bury it and never speak about it.

It's our duty to bring these subjects up, relentlessly.

23

u/kent_eh 1d ago

“Well I don’t know anything about that.”

"Maybe you should learn, then..."

7

u/Nematrec 1d ago

"There's a lot of things you don't know about. I'm beginning to think it outnumbers the things you do know about"

8

u/Horskr 1d ago

I had some of those conversations with a couple family members the first go round with Trump. Not even crazy maga people, just life long Republicans. At best I'd get something like, "I didn't know he did that, that's awful!" Then talking to them later they just went ahead and voted for him a couple more times anyway. I don't even bother now.

5

u/3-DMan 22h ago

"Doesn't look like anything to me.."

3

u/Chrontius 1d ago

“Well I don’t know anything about that.”

"That's worse, right? You know that's actually WORSE?"

2

u/_BenzeneRing_ 1d ago

I'm sorry for your loss

2

u/justadudeinohio 1d ago

exactly. the last person i talk to that voted for trump is suddenly "not political" after trump took office.

2

u/PurpleSailor 1d ago

The cognitive dissonance hurts them so badly they have to deny the truth.

2

u/Firm_Shower3326 1d ago

My FIL was sharing pro-Trump stuff with my wife randomly out of nowhere on fb messenger 2 weeks ago. My wife was a victim of sexual assault as a young child and so I told her to send a particular article to which I had many options to choose from because the guy is pedo. She sends it and what is his reply, “I don’t follow politics.”

These people need to see therapists.

2

u/MiaowaraShiro 22h ago

“Well I don’t know anything about that.”

Well why not? seems to be a great reply to that.

2

u/ehoyd 22h ago

This is my sister! We had a whole discussion about ICE and when I asked her why they are waiting outside immigration offices and stuff to catch “criminals” trying to live their lives here LEGALLY. She pretended not to know about it.

1

u/FreneticPlatypus 21h ago

It can be really tough for some people to admit they’re wrong. Especially when it comes to points that they so vehemently championed and it turns out they aren’t just a little off the mark but absolutely dead fucking wrong. Some people just can’t do it.

2

u/Relevant_Cause_4755 15h ago

“That doesn’t look like anything to me.”

1.1k

u/distung 1d ago

There’s a post with maybe 3-4 people discussing it. The bots probably don’t know how to engage yet. It’ll come along with talking points soon enough.

248

u/AusGeno 1d ago

I searched the sub for Intel and sorted by recent and I only see one from yesterday before the 10% stake became official.

226

u/GeneralRane 1d ago

None of the four people who make most of the posts have gotten around to it yet.

97

u/ReignOnWillie 1d ago

Gotta love the format of:

Random article posted. Then OP (bot) posts a 4-5 sentence comment opinion of how great Trump is.

Rinse and repeat

27

u/minche 1d ago

And if a discussion develops claim that the post is being brigaded

1

u/Pretty_Biscotti 1d ago

I love that part, you have to go through a vetting process to check your a republican but still get so many “infiltrators”

7

u/Sp11Raps 1d ago

Bro every time I end up in that sub it inevitably devolves into everyone pointing fingers at each other like the spiderman meme once any sort of nuanced take emerges. It's horrifyingly fascinating. It's like they see the point but jump it like a hurdle whenever they come close. They are so afraid to break ranks that anytime someone disturbs the echo chamber with a pebble that might become a ripple they jump each other like a pack of starving cannibals.

It honestly blows my mind in such a depressing way. Although lefties aren't exactly immune to this either. Although the disagreements I've seen are more liberal vs far-left. But apparently everyone hates moderates ha.

1

u/Objective_Rush7162 1d ago

What makes you think it's a bot? I hate Trump as much as the next person, but this whole situation of accusing everyone and everything is being automated is getting out of hand when there is no evidence to back it up

50

u/Naive-Significance48 1d ago

Seriously though. Some of them make dozens of posts a day to the one subreddit.

Then, you scroll through and see the same accounts over and over posting.

Didn't notice for a while.

29

u/FactoryPl 1d ago

Most heavily moderated sub on the platform brought to you by the freedom of speech crowd.

3

u/PuzzleheadedGroup624 1d ago

Brought to you by the GRU.

1

u/apathy420 1d ago

I am banned from that sub and never once posted, which makes me think they actively patrol accounts that post in dissenting subreddits.

6

u/ImperfectRegulator 1d ago

and the one anti abortion guy who is probably the only person I think might be real, but he's insane soooo

31

u/p_k 1d ago

It's the weekend after all. Some of them aren't bots but hired propagandists. They're full time employees like us and have weekends off. They'll be back posting Monday morning, you'll see.

20

u/TheWizardOfDeez 1d ago

It makes sense, since they are always accusing the left of paid protesters that they are paying for supporters.

2

u/733t_sec 1d ago

You'd think whoever is running these propaganda campaigns would have a weekend shift with monday tuesday off

3

u/AccountantDirect9470 1d ago

They have never been smart.

1

u/733t_sec 1d ago

I'm assuming some of them are run by foreign governments

2

u/rpkarma 1d ago

If they were smart, they wouldn’t be conservatives.

1

u/733t_sec 1d ago

I'm assuming some of them are run by foreign governments

2

u/TopVegetable8033 1d ago

Russia is a different time zone, they probably were sleeping.

15

u/distung 1d ago

Not sure if it was deleted. I saw the one you mentioned plus one more earlier today about the official news. Both with only a couple of comments.

149

u/Arkeband 1d ago

their favorite thing to post is “they’re brigading us!” when a really stupid take gets downvoted and is divisive even among the hogs.

38

u/wtftocallmyself 1d ago

Plenty of alarmist immigrant stories but ..smh

34

u/helloworldpat 1d ago

Always the same, one person (that is not white and not Christian) did something bad - “see I told yall, dems don’t wanna see the truth, kick all of them out!”

My favourite takes the last few days from their sub: “Newson promised to end homelessness to end 10 years ago and nothing happened” - all while Trump promised to end the Russia Ukraine war in one day “Maxwell herself said Trump is innocent and they will still not be happy with it” - bro don’t even know where to start with that one

18

u/buckyb4dg3r 1d ago

All of their arguments can easily be counter arguments.

The Maxwell thread had a comment that basically said “well if Maxwell said Trump was incriminated, Dems would have said she was truthful!”

Wait, wouldn’t you just do the reverse and claim she’s a felon and perjured herself many times before?

11

u/Garbitch69420 1d ago

It's such a bizarre place. You'll find a good chunk of "rational" comments on a post about something unhinged Trump says or does, that say he's going too far, it's a waste of time, whatever. Then the magats calling those people liberals get downvoted and cry brigade. Then the next post is like "Yeah I'm super mega pro Trump" and it's equally upvoted. Is it collective split personality or is it just all bots

2

u/IniNew 23h ago

There's 100% people in there that are "This is too far. This isn't the role of the federal government."

And there's 100% people in there that call them fake conservatives and feel like any action is justified because liberals are literally the devil.

And there's 100% bots that play both sides of that engagement to sow more anger.

3

u/NNKarma 1d ago

Not only stupid, but also demonstrably fake, except that we don't have the ability to show the facts

1

u/PM_ME_UR_QUINES 1d ago

Indeed any link, from any subreddit, no matter how small, and they'll reference it and say they're being brigaded. Simply whisper their existence and they scream in fear.

16

u/danglotka 1d ago

If you look at comment count theres actually a lot more. They just censor anything they dont like

2

u/WhoDat-2-8-3 1d ago

90 % of the comments there are shadowbanned haha

2

u/iambatmon 1d ago

Holy shit you’re right. Every now and then I’ll see a headline about some horrible thing Trump did, and I’ll go to the cons subreddit to see what they’re saying and there’s a barely upvoted post with 2-3 somewhat reasonable people talking about it, then it fizzles and I’m like what? And I’ll check again in a day or two when it’s already kind of old news and there’s a FLURRY of hard trumpers parroting the same bullshit. You’re totally right it’s just bots waiting for their orders

2

u/tom-branch 1d ago

They're waiting on their instructions.

1

u/PokeYrMomStanley 1d ago

They need their damn talking points or they dont know what to think. Imagine if they reacted now and got it wrong. They would be ousted.

1

u/360_face_palm 1d ago

i just imagine the bots all erroring asking for input from their masters

1

u/trail34 1d ago

They’ll eventually say it was a bold move to protect American industries in the interest of national security. If dems point out that this is socialism they will pretend to not understand what that word means and will say “see, they are just saying we are socialists because they are socialists. It’s all projection. They are anti-American hypocrites”.

I’ve come to accept that you just can’t make progress with willful ignorance.

1

u/3-DMan 22h ago

I think Epstein posts are verboten now, they had one mega-post for a hot minute and it's gone now

-2

u/GambitTheBest 1d ago

The bots are the ones on r/all and all the other astroturfed subs that doesn't reflect the voting reality, which is why Kamala lost

102

u/introspectivejoker 1d ago

The majority of the commenters in r/conservative are literally acting like the Maxwell testimony actually clears trump of wrongdoing.

Those people are the stupidest fuckers of all time

16

u/AffectionateSwan5129 1d ago

I do think that sub is riddled with bots and a sprinkle of humans. I see the odd dissenting opinion over Epstein - but so many are not based on politics but how the “left” must be seething.. it’s pretty impressive with all that winning that goes on, the opposition lives rent free in their minds all day.

117

u/GreatGojira 1d ago

You have been banned from r/conservative for posting on r/technology

5

u/apathy420 23h ago

I am banned from conservative and have never posted over there. Makes me wonder if they actively police accounts they don't want? Wouldn't surprise me

2

u/MiaowaraShiro 22h ago

I criticized the sub in a different sub and got banned. Imagine having the free time and thinking that's a valuable use of it...

2

u/MiaowaraShiro 22h ago

You joke, but I've never commented there and I've been banned.

5

u/PokeYrMomStanley 1d ago

GreatGojira • 53m ago

You have been banned from r/conservative for posting on r/intelligent

*FTFY

6

u/useless_rejoinder 1d ago

You have been banned from r/conservative for putting those two words in the same sentence.

20

u/bensefero 1d ago

The whole Epstein thing got gagged as soon as it started looking bad. No articles, no mentions, no discussion. If you typed in that name the only thing was from a week before

3

u/WestleyThe 1d ago

Everything gets gagged there or they wait to post it to see how it plays out. When Donald announced the DC takeover you would think they would all be cheering or something but there was nothing on there for days

They wait for it to die down and they wait to see how they are told to spin in based on right wing news talking points

31

u/wtftocallmyself 1d ago

Slightly good news I've noticed the number of comments in that sub going down and down daily. It might be dawning on some of them, maybe, hopefully.. pitifully

67

u/DistributionSalt4188 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's because they ban anyone who doesn't enthusiastically toe the party line, lmao.

Anyone who goes "hey, wait a second..." is called a fake conservative and then has to either immediately purity test themselves or get banhammered.

Biggest safe space on the Internet for only the most fragile snowflakes.

So a solid portion of the people left on there seem to be legitimately mentally unstable and have made Trump their god.

2

u/MiaowaraShiro 22h ago

It's gonna end up being 5 mods pointing fingers at each other...

9

u/sokka2d 1d ago

You just can't see them. Everyone is shadow banned.

3

u/3-DMan 22h ago

Yeah it's crazy when you see 100 nested comments, then you open it and they are all..gone.

10

u/lolas_coffee 1d ago

Conservatives are lemmings, nothing else.

If Trump told them to be liberals, they'd be liberals.

7

u/fkih 1d ago

Every time there’s something indefensible going on with Trump they just post an article about an immigrant doing a crime to get mad about.

4

u/1OO1OO1S0S 1d ago

Well yeah, if it wasn't complaining about trans people or immigrants eating cats and dogs, do they really care?

5

u/musclecard54 1d ago

They get removed by mods. There are regular people there with conservative beliefs and they get shit on for asking questions and commenting anything that isn’t praise of the administration

5

u/ECguy84 1d ago

FLAIRED USERS ONLY

5

u/No_Mercy_4_Potatoes 1d ago

There are never any posts about any negative press on that sub. It's like they collectively decided to put blindfolds on and act normal.

4

u/Weary_Cabinet_8123 1d ago

You’ll get nothing from that sub. It’s one of the most disgustingly censored echo chambers on the entire app and that’s saying a lot

6

u/dariasisterorwhtever 1d ago

I keep checking every day to see if they discuss the CDC shooter. There’s been one vague post about it so far.

3

u/introspectivejoker 1d ago

If it was a trans shooter they'd be all over it

3

u/kent_eh 1d ago

I went to check out the conservative sub

If anyone did try to post it, they'd get banned and the post deleted.

It's a safe space for snowflakes in there.

3

u/PokeYrMomStanley 1d ago

They are too busy being pedo supporters and/or apologists. Every republican is a pedo.

3

u/time_drifter 1d ago

Think? In that echo chamber?

What were you thinking?

3

u/DreamLearnBuildBurn 1d ago

That sub is nothing but clickbait rage articles about bad things brown people did, and articles with headlines like "Democrats outraged that DC is safer!" And there will be people in the comment section saying "lol imagine being a lib and wanting crime."

I wish there were a way to dialogue with them but they are in a self-imposed bubble. It's funny to watch them handle disputes among the herd. Basically if there is a disagreement, they each call the other a secret liberal infiltrating the sub and then, instead of checking their post history and seeing that they are indeed both conservatives, one of the disagreers is shadowbanned if their view is not Trumpian.

3

u/soonnow 1d ago

Hold on, they are busy with the Cracker Barrel logo. Can't think about anything else.

1

u/3-DMan 22h ago

"They are taking the cracker out of our Cracker Barrel!!!!!"

2

u/General-Sloth 1d ago

Just like in Moscow. No articles, no discussions.

2

u/BetterCallSal 1d ago

They haven't been spoonfed their way to say it's ok yet.

2

u/Rare-Tough4898 1d ago

They’re jerking off to Kilmer Abrego being threatened with deportation to Uganda

2

u/ViolentSpring 1d ago

The con men don’t even have to try anymore. The base is just that stupid.

2

u/VicariousNarok 1d ago edited 1d ago

That sub is HEAVILY moderated. If it doesn't fit their point of view it gets removed instantly. Censorship at the max. The closest you get to conservatives speaking logically is comments with replies from 10 people reposting the same gif from Poltergeist of the little girl saying "they're here" and saying that the thread is being brigaded.

2

u/Tsobaphomet 1d ago

Why would there be? lol. You want articles and discussions about random deranged tweets some random governor made? What's there to discuss. He's embarrassing himself and that's about it.

1

u/Ridiculisk1 1d ago

Because they and you fail to see why he's doing what he's doing. If you have a problem with Newsom acting like it but you don't have a problem with Trump doing it, you're in a cult.

2

u/The_Mayor 1d ago

This is like saying "I logged into GTAV to see what Los Santos residents think about my driving skills."

That sub isn't real people. There are obviously real conservatives with real opinions in the world, but not in that subreddit.

2

u/Sknowman 1d ago

It's really unfortunate, honestly. I like hearing both sides of the argument on most topics, but it seems like the sub ignores pretty much everything that is conservative-leaning and appears negative.

And then you have liberals regularly brigading that sub's posts, so even good arguments are downvoted, and we're stuck in an unhelpful echo chamber.

2

u/SolFlorus 1d ago

I’d much rather have the US become an investor than constantly bail out companies and get nothing in return. If we took that stance with the billions of dollars we’ve thrown at telecoms, maybe rural areas would actually have fiber.

I see nothing wrong with the US making a strategic investment into the only US chip fab. It’s a critical part of our economy and defense.

The extortion to allow Nvidia to export is some bullshit.

1

u/iAmRiight 1d ago

Honest discussion is the absolute last thing they want. They literally can’t handle any nuanced, differing opinions. They’ve been so indoctrinated by talk radio and fox neus having a singular shared shared agenda and complete vitriolic dismissal of the “other side” that they cannot participate in actual discussion with anyone that doesn’t parrot the same talking points.

The last time I offered this opinion on Reddit my comment was removed within minutes. We’ll see if it stays up this time.

1

u/EuroNati0n 1d ago

Ill be the one to break it to you. The average conservative hates the Trump tweeting, and Newsom just looks desperate here. This isn't the dunk y'all think it is, it's just sad.

1

u/NothingButTheTruthy 1d ago

Oh yeah. So riled

1

u/AKAFallow 1d ago

No article about the bailed Israeli security agent either for grooming a minor, who later got a plane out of the US. They say they aren't an echo chamber but they also don't like seeing every single news about their country?

1

u/First-Celebration-11 1d ago

Fox news hasn’t told them what to think yet.

1

u/Transporter5000 1d ago

Fox News also has 0 mentions of Intel on the front page as of this time.

1

u/KotR56 1d ago

Anyone trying to question the deeds of the Great Leader gets banned within seconds.

1

u/ChaseballBat 1d ago

That's cause the content on that sub is specifically curated to keep those idiots in their place.

1

u/Objective_Rush7162 1d ago

Why bother? There never is. It's been this way for over 10 years. If you dare post anything negative about a republican politician, you're immediately banned. Even if what they did was 100% true. There's no point going to that sub.

1

u/Ylsid 1d ago

Maybe because nobody cares about news articles reporting on tweets

1

u/itsamecatty 1d ago

There are no discussions of actual current events going on there. It’s all made up “Trump was RIGHT about the one obscure useless thing!” and the continuing circle jerk of “that’s what I voted for!”.

1

u/Marketfreshe 1d ago

I noticed this also. It's there, it's just pretty far down. They're too busy jerking each other off about specific illegal immigrant criminal cases to pay attention to what's actually happening.

1

u/SpinItUpLockItUp 1d ago

as a republican, i dont really mind i think its funny.

1

u/MiaowaraShiro 22h ago

Well yeah, it's just memes and stupidity over there... they don't post serious articles because they're not serious people.

u/NewCobbler6933 20h ago
