No. It’s owned by American tax dollars. This means we get part of the dividends right? Right?

Yep.

Not a trump fan but this is unironically the best move here.

Intel is a strategic company that is too important to fail.

Instead of a bailout the US gets shares. It's better than the alternative.

No. No company is too big to fail. If Intel goes bankrupt, it gets separated and sold and then more efficient and better companies will manage what’s left. That is best solution.

You don't understand the strategic importance of intel.

There is no other American foundry capable of making cutting edge chips.

There are like, 3 or 4 companies in the world that can do it and they are all South Corean or Chinese.

It's not like any other industry, Intel is the only American chip manufacturer and no one can take it's place in a reasonable timeline or maybe...ever?

Whatever happens, intel is there to stay.

Do you think the government could let Boeing fail? It won't. And I could even see Boeing cut and sold but not Intel.

At the same time, it could be cementing other countries (and companies) to not buy Intel, especially when other company's parts are cheaper and faster in the vast majority of workloads. As one of the millions of "boycott America" Canadians, I will 110% never buy another Intel product, and will very actively encourage others to do the same so long as the Democratic People's Republic of America has any ownership stake in the company.

AMD does not manifacture chips, only design them.

The same as Nvidia.

As not american, i prefer intel not to fail because that would only leave Samsung Foundry and TSMC all the game, leave AMD as the sole big player of x86, and kill all chnace of the Arc brraking the Radeon - RTX duopoly (its not making money yet, it needs all the other parts of intel to stay alive and do R&D).

Not sure if this is supposed to be sarcasm, but yes as a shareholder the US government will receive dividends for the 10% stake it owns. My understanding is that will be added to the treasury pool.

Is that the new name for Trump's coffers ?

Yeah it’s sarcasm. That money will buy Trump a new can of gold spray paint for the oval.
