Remember when Jimmy Carter gave up his peanut farm?

Cause he didn't want to influence anyone with his very great, perfect tasting, world famous....boiled peanuts?

This guy is up there with Joffrey levels of hatred from me.

Actually I'm old, and I do remember Carter, (I remember Ford to, but only vaguely).

I also know that he didn't "give up" his farm.

He placed it in a blind trust, and retained ownership. Management was handed off, that's how blind trusts work.

This turned out to be a pretty bad idea financially. And he sold it in '81 shortly after he lost reelection.

Years of drought and changes in warehouse management had left the Carters with more than $1 million of debt.

Billy Carter, Jimmy's brother managed the place and he was well known to be a flaming idiot.

Billy also tried to "cash in" on his brothers Presidency by endorsing ... a beer, "Billy Beer". Which made a lot of sense because he was not only an idiot, but a drunk as well.

Billy beer was absolute swill in line with Busch or Natural Light.
