Please Help Needed with Games Research
I am conducting academic research on how game developers find and use resources such as art assets, code snippets, creative inspirations, and design frameworks. This study is purely for research purposes and is not connected to the development of any AI tools, commercial products, or software services.
If you have any level of experience in Game Development, I’d love to invite you to share your insights through a short, open-ended survey. It takes about 10–15 minutes to complete, and your experience could help shape a better understanding of how developers like you approach information seeking for creativity and problem-solving.
The study isn’t funded (it's just the work of a struggling but passionate PhD student) so all I can offer is a heartfelt thanks and the chance to contribute to knowledge that could benefit the games research community.
If you are interested in participating, you can take the survey here: https://neu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_acafWGDyAqywyto
Thank you for considering contributing to this research!
For any questions, you may reach out to me at this email address (narayan.u@northeastern.edu). The IRB# for this study is 25-04-18 under the Northeastern University IRB.
Sincerely,
Uttkarsh Narayan

An arcade adventure game by a Broken Sword dev + Sensible Soccer artist for PC and Spectrum Next!
An interview with Tony Warriner (Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, Beneath A Steel Sky) and pixel artist Stoo Cambridge (Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder) about their upcoming arcade adventure game UrbX Warriors, made for PC and the Spectrum Next.
They chat about the challenges of programming it for the Spectrum Next, why people seem to have an appetite for retro games again and what they mean by "gaming authenticity".

Inside Bohemia Interactive | The Creators Of Arma & DayZ
I recently visited Bohemia Interactive (creators of DayZ and Arma) and interviewed a few team members about:
- How they got started in the industry
- What they look for in new hires
- What advice they’d give to students or junior developers
I put together a short video from that conversation. It’s not for promotion or views — just something I wish I had access to when I was starting out.
Here’s the link if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZzlVoI_76s
Would love to hear what you think and what you would tell someone trying to get into game dev today.
