Other Christmas Robbers at Hoofddorp. (Incident on 26-12-17)

I was informed by my grieving friend living at Hoofddorp about his house been robbed as he returned from Christmas vacations. Robbers came down through kitchen ventilation window and wiped off all valuables including laptops, iPad, Mobile phones, Watches and jewellery which is almost his savings.

Police arrived and making their report also said this being 8th incident in just one day at their neighbourhood. They are also expecting more such after new year where rest come from vacation.

As he was out for two days this incident happened, which is clear that they were under watch for quite a time and timed it as they left. Though it was shocking for me, but police and other friends were not so, as it happens very often during Christmas.

Just making a note for others to be safe and precautions. It's new years around and let's not the joy or spirits be ruined.

Happy New year's all. Stay safe.

Happened in our street a few years ago, whole block was robbed except for two houses (of the five, everyone had left btw).

Those two were the only with the lights on.

So yeah, try to keep your lights on when you leave people!

We have a timer that we use on our outlets. It's just a small device that you put in between your outlet and the lamps/other devices you want to put a timer on. It looks something like this.

We've just gone away for a few days and we had the lights turn on from around 16:30 to 23:00, which is pretty much all you need. If you've got neighbors with two or more cars you can also ask them to park in front of your house for the few days you're gone.

I guess it depends a lot on the kind of neighbourhood you live in but I would definitely recommend at least getting a timer like I showed.

Yeah! Thats totally true and would recommend it, he didn't turn it on as he was out for just two days, but costed him dearly. Much regretted.

Hoofddorp is experiencing a lot of brake ins these last two weeks unfortunately. The authorities placed a number of matrix borden with this message and a link to a prevention site. Not that it helps your friend any :/.

On the site of Eigen Huis are some tips on how to make breaking in harder: https://www.eigenhuis.nl/huis-duurzaam-maken/inbraak-voorkomen/inbraakpreventie-tips.

There's been a total of 34 burglaries in the last week in Hoofddorp. It's crazy.
