What the fuck was Fat Dom hoping would happen?

“Carlo’s lipstick”? You’re really gonna make that joke when you’re alone, outnumbered by guys in another family, and one of ‘em already has a knife out?

Did Fat Dom ever get his IQ teshted?

It’s called baiting. He estimated that the pygmies in New Jersey would recognize they’d be annihilated if they started anything with him/NY. And he was right, but it personally cost him some

164

u/the-burner-acct 2d ago

Yeah, Phil sent him to stir the pot.. but they didn’t think they would have the balls to do it..

Key component is that he never answer the phones, so NY can’t even prove Dom made it to Satrielis

93

u/Hughkalailee 1d ago

Yeh, blame them for the Hindenburg too.

Doesn’t matter to Phil if he’s sure Dom made it there or not. He’s the minister of propaganda - claims the Jersey guys don’t even get their fingers pricked in the making ceremony while we clearly see the normal procedures are followed.

15

u/the-burner-acct 1d ago

They have plausible deniability.. hence the Hindenburg reference… if they can place Fat Dom at the scene it would be very hard for them to deny..

No body, no murder… how do we know that prick is even dead ?

9

u/Responsible_Sink3044 1d ago

plausible deniability

What is this, the fuckin UN now? If a murderer thinks you killed his friend he's not waiting for a jury to decide if he retaliates

1

u/LadenifferJadaniston 1d ago

You gotta wait for that

1

u/Hughkalailee 1d ago

Doesn’t matter to Phil if they have “plausible deniability”

22

u/Alcianus 1d ago

Yeah, Phil sent him to stir the pot.. but they didn’t think they would have the balls to do it..

Tbf, Silvio was smart enough and just wanted to beat him up. It was Carlo who took it too far.

45

u/IUsedToBeRasAlGhul 1d ago

Beating Dom up would have given Phil more ammunition to use over striking a made man, much like how Ralph bitched and moaned to everyone when Tony hit him. Killing him, while reckless, gave a better layer of plausible deniability.

-5

u/Alcianus 1d ago

No, it wouldn't. Beating him would have eased the situation, probably had Tony pay heavy restitution. Which is why Silvio, who is obviously the smartest of the bunch, didn't want to kill him. Everyone in New York knew NJ killed him. Phil constantly brought him up as one of his grievances. They just didn't have concrete proof of who exactly killed him or you can be sure that if they suspected someone (whether it be Silvio or Carlo), proof or no proof, he would have been gone.

19

u/Ereyes18 1d ago

If they just beat him up then NY knows they touched a made man, which is a big no no. So no, killing him and it being silent was way more preferable

-6

u/Alcianus 1d ago

No, it isn't. Tony almost curbstomped Coco to death and pointed a gun at Phil's underboss and he wasn't really reprimanded for it because he had a good reason for doing so.

26

u/Ereyes18 1d ago

That moment was the legit final event that finally started the open war between the two

6

u/Alcianus 1d ago

It was Burt Gervasi that was the final straw but neither of the two events were that important, they were just one of the many gripes Phil held against the Sopranos for the murder of his brother Billy, whatever happened there. My point is that on their own neither of the two would have met with a severe reprisal. The moment Carmine Jr reminded Phil of his brother's death was the moment he had already decided to eliminate the glorified Soprano crew. And everything after that was just him antagonizing them to give himself the justification for it.

6

u/pablothenice 1d ago

No, it wouldn't.

Of course it would.

4

u/lagrandesgracia 1d ago

Silvio said "kill that prick" when Carlo got the knife

13

u/Livid_Importance_614 1d ago

No he doesn’t, he says “hit.”

11

u/Alcianus 1d ago

No, he doesn't. Rewatch the scene again. Silvio says "Hit him! Hit that prick! Clock him!" And when Carlo takes the knife he says 'No. Carlo' (I'm not sure about that last part, it might have been Fat Dom who says it)

3

u/jy_1980 1d ago

Phil didn't send him. If he was sure that Jersey killed Fat Dom the war would've heated up even sooner, but he wasn't.

2

u/the-burner-acct 1d ago

But he wasant sure.. Phil send him to break balls.. and yeah Jersey crew most likely did it.. but there is no body.. maybe Dom is cooperating, he’s on the lam for something unrelated… same reason the Czechoslovakians never went after Chrissy… you know but you don’t know..

2

u/jy_1980 16h ago

I think if Phil sent him it would have been more of an issue.

He said he was visiting his daughter in Metuchen.

37

u/Random-Cpl 1d ago

He was a master baiter, Dom?

2

u/Top-Candle-5481 1d ago

He had a lot of easy material to troll with. He could’ve been far better

136

u/timetotrysushi 2d ago

As he was personally part of the hit on Vito, it’s one of those instances where you want to brag but can’t.

33

u/Deep_Resource5088 1d ago

They know, but they don't know.

5

u/clanindafront_ 1d ago

He went into the unknown not knowing

209

u/blackorchid786 2d ago

Watching Sil hang on that guys back like a spider monkey made it all worth it

88

u/Scarface6342 1d ago

The cloud of dust when Sil whack his head with the vacuum, you can’t made this shit up

48

u/tomtomklsz 1d ago

i just did

65

u/GlamdringTheFoeDrill 2d ago

Hit him! Hit this prick!

3

u/DefamedPrawn 1d ago

My favourite aspect was hearing Beethoven's Für Elise after he was stabbed to death.

2

u/blackorchid786 20h ago

It was almost poetic in its insanity, you are right

60

u/BrikIsRed 2d ago

Cmon he was just braking balls

38

u/RealChrisMoltisanti 2d ago

He was loyle to his capo

1

u/clanindafront_ 1d ago

Chip, is that you?

45

u/Five-StarBastardMan 2d ago

These guys aren’t the smartest

43

u/Whatisthis519 2d ago

He was taunting them, New york guys are pretty arrogant. Its pretty much their biggest weakness in the series

6

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

That's cause in NJ, you ain't dealing with a family. It's a glorified crew.

40

u/eatajerk-pal 2d ago

If he would’ve quit right before that line, he would’ve walked out of there just fine. Guy was a stunad.

14

u/Random-Cpl 1d ago

He could even have walked out with his soft drink of choice.

11

u/BigBucs731 1d ago

Of the first magnitude

9

u/RutabagaSame 1d ago

Sunshine did the same thing. He kept on prodding and it cost him his life.

56

u/YouMeAndReneDupree 2d ago

I don't think you understand how mentally taxing and difficult it is when Syracuse keeps tanking again and again.

19

u/GlamdringTheFoeDrill 2d ago

All right but you gotta get over it

10

u/palikona 2d ago

Tell me about it. Syracuse should have 2 or 3 more national championships if they didn’t tank.

19

u/LugiaPizza 2d ago

He overplayed the Silvio card. He thought him and Sil were good. Would he make the same jokes if it was Paulie and Carlo there?

Whadjusay?

11

u/Tombo6969 2d ago

I knew THAT was coming!

20

u/spikenzelda 2d ago

Or even just “Breaking balls” to “violence”. Artie talking about ade to chrissy, you outta know sweetie, etc.

9

u/dagmarbex 2d ago

I mean , that was more than breaking balls , he was threatening him and talking about hus girl . Possibly the only valid crash out christofuh had

5

u/spikenzelda 1d ago

Sure but my point is artie said “i’m just breakin ballssss” in the scene. so it would fit right in such a compilation

1

u/dagmarbex 1d ago

Ur right that makes sense

5

u/MilesHighson 2d ago

Pool cues and lipstick brought us to this

1

u/AmonWeathertopSul 1d ago

Oh yeah... Those two things.

3

u/EveryoneisOP3 2d ago

It'd be a pretty short video. Most of the time we see anything like this, it's sort of misdirection. Either it was the result of an altercation with a couple of Gentlemen From The Neighborhood, or someone found dem like thish and the guy waz a piesh of shit and WHOEVER did thish it shoulda been done a long time ago.

1

u/daveorourke77 1d ago

Ginnies fat ass remains unscathed

14

u/BigDBob72 2d ago

It’s because they killed Vito so they thought they could do whatever they want

37

u/Stock-Visit5157 2d ago

Who wouldn't wanna take the easy way out

14

u/GlamdringTheFoeDrill 2d ago

At least he didn’t suffer

Carlo (Judge Roy Bean) was great in the Sopranos. It is the interesting little side characters like him that make the show truly outstanding and on another level........."HE'S GOTTA GO!"

26

u/happy_chickens 2d ago

He was a New York guy coming to break balls. He didn’t think they would do anything, remember he’s from New York, they really do consider the Sopranos a glorified crew, that Pygmy thing from Jersey.

9

u/KatsumotoKurier 1d ago

We’re talkin about New York here ✋

2

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

Whatever happened there.

24

u/Guns_Donuts 2d ago

It just shows how little NY thought of the pigmy thing in Jersey. Fat Dom thought he could attack a made guy, torture him by sticking a pool cue up his ass, and then kill him, then, not only go on to that guys turf, but to his actual fuckin' clubhouse, confront his buddies, who are also made guys, make jokes about the pool cue, when they know full-well he probably had something to do with Vito's death, and then have the balls/stupidity to make a gay joke about the guy who is standing there with a knife, that you've already pissed off.

10

u/Orlok_Tsubodai 2d ago

You ever been to fucking Metuchen? This was a man in search of a swift death, to avoid a fate worse than death.

21

u/NWkingslayer2024 2d ago

Forget about Fat Dom who went over to jersey and never came back! No more OP no more

29

u/DominicPalladino 2d ago

The Hindenburg also went to New Jersey and never came back, maybe you should look into that too.

8

u/MeasurementStill5997 2d ago

Just watched this episode tonight…came here to say this

1

u/jdakk 1d ago

Whatever happened there…

8

u/tumalditamadre 2d ago

My favorite part is him laying there as Mike Francesa and Christopher Russo are discussing the Roberto Clemente book. Back when WFAN was WFAN.

6

u/SpezMechman 1d ago

Underrated detail of that scene is that the dust buster Silvio hit him over the head with was full of rat shit.

4

u/billybassbigmouth 2d ago

To be treated like a bull? OLAY!

5

u/AfterShave997 2d ago

He didn't think they had the balls to kill him

4

u/diseasefaktory 1d ago

That fat prick getting stabbed was one of the best scenes in the show. Loved every second, too bad they didn't show him get carved up.

4

u/Crafty_Tree4475 1d ago

Felt untouchable because he was made. It was the same reason Ol Billy told Tommy to go get his fucking shine box.

If you are made it mean you were untouchable. Unfortunstely Fat Dom went a bit too far.

3

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

His waist went a bit too far for a belt.

Hey Tone, hear what I said? I told him he's too fat to wear a belt.

4

u/The_Negative-One 1d ago

Maybe Fat Dom got lost looking for the flying saucer over in East Rutherford.

13

u/qxsx 2d ago

He was hoping to go to Metuchen, obviously. Sil reminded him it was time to head out. Too bad Noah Tannenbaum happened to see him in Satriales parking lot and built a ramp up to his ass and drove a Lionel up dere for his fawtha. He was just a kid. It’s sad when they go. When they go?

19

u/GlamdringTheFoeDrill 2d ago

20 minutes of nonstop gibberish…

3

u/qxsx 2d ago edited 2d ago

Have a scheatsh. My muddas wake.

2

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

He had some coffee on the boil back in NY.

5

u/HandofthePirateKing 2d ago

the NY mob had guys who were the type that would keep poking a lion or a crocodile with a stick and not expect it to bite back also they were a little too confident in the fact that there would be risk of a war if anybody touch a hair on their head right to where they forgot they are talking to emotionally unstable murderers and their boss isn’t around to protect them.

1

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

That was NJ - it was an alley cat and a gecko.

3

u/Rick_strickland220 2d ago

Pills would have been a lot easier

2

u/Former-Ad-9039 2d ago

Take a stab at jokes

2

u/IZZO79 2d ago

I mean he's kinda par for the course really.

2

u/Hughkalailee 1d ago

Made men aren’t supposed to be physically assaulted, and the other made men know this and are supposed to accept that rule.

2

u/Early_Candidate_3082 1d ago

Fat Dom proved that The Tree of Life is Self-Pruning.

2

u/northjersey78 1d ago

A lot of people were concerned about his well being.

2

u/riff-raff-jesus 1d ago

Jersey had nothing to do with Fat Dom. That day, Fat Dom never made it to Jersey. In fact, Fat Dom had never set foot in Jersey his whole life, scouts honor.

2

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

Fat Dom. Whatever happened there.

2

u/palikona 2d ago

He was pissed Syracuse tanked again

2

u/Blu3Dope 2d ago edited 2d ago

I don't think he ever knew that NJ literally had an OG mobster imported from Italy. He didnt know what the NJ crew was about, not really. He died thinking shit is sweet.

On an unrelated note, I believe Phil envied Tony and the NJ crew for this very reason, among all the other crazy shit they (Tony himself) did that he would more than likely constantly hear about, but as we all know he did 20 years in the can without a peep he would never admit to this

2

u/WatercressExciting20 1d ago

Billy Bats tried to tell a joke. How did that work out for him, and even Tommy?

1

u/Sensitive-Ear-3896 1d ago

He had found out the Sil and Carlo were also gay and was trying to blackmail them to keep their secret

1

u/Only_Reserve1615 1d ago

Fat Dom? Didn’t he almost down in 3 inches of water at the penguin exhibit?

1

u/barryredfield 1d ago

He knew what would happen... he would throw his back onto the printed cutout picture of a plate of spaghetti and meatballs on the table. There was nothing the cutout picture of spaghetti could do, Fat Dom was a made guy and the colored picture of spaghetti and meatballs wasn't. Real greaseball shit.

1

u/Iowa_Phil 1d ago

He probably hoped the audience would laugh. It was a funny scene

1

u/No-Contribution6956 1d ago

The New York guys always saw themselves as superior to Jersey so he probably thought he had some type of armor bc of that

1

u/AnimationDynamite 1d ago

Most preventable death in the whole show

1

u/Apprehensive-Gur-735 1d ago

Well, the NY never had a respect for Jersey, Dom basically thought that he could just insult one of their captains without consequences, after all, they were called a glorified crew, so that's why Dom was like that.

1

u/CreamyLolipop 1d ago

Breaking balls really is bad for your health or in vitos case its sucking

1

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

They called him Little Dom when compared to the boil on Ginny's ass.

1

u/qui3tdesperation 1d ago

The four guys who should have closed their mouths are Fat Dom, Sunshine, Georgie and Vito at the construction site early in the morning

1

He has a note from his doctor!!!!

1

u/EeveeVaporeon 1d ago

SO SATISFYING

1

u/ToonMasterRace 1d ago

Pretty much Nazi diplomacy 1936-1939

1

u/yankesik2137 17h ago

Fat Dom had his IQ tested, and was relieved when the test results came back negative.

1

u/MatushManCarlo 16h ago

He was gay, Fat Dom?

1

u/Wonderful-Shirt8270 5h ago

I used to live next to his daughter in Metuchen—and if I told you 15 years ago she was a piece of azzz………

1

u/Sad-Illustrator-8847 1d ago

he was hoping to find out whether the cue stick was chalked. newspaper didn’t say

0

u/daveorourke77 1d ago

He ended with a pool cue up his own ass and it wasn't no cock either.

0

u/Successful_Gap8927 1d ago

It’s a TV show. A progrum

1

u/ACTSATGuyonReddit 1d ago

Don't touch that.
