Show Spoiler Small realisation rewatching. S4 E12

In the Episode where Daryl and Beth find the Moonshine when Daryl breaks down, when listing off names he says, "Rick, And ya ain't never seeing Maggie again."

Kinda solidifys how Daryl saw Rick as a brother or more influential figure in his life. He also lists no one else.

That's why he distanced himself from the communities after "Rick's death", he was so important to Daryl that he would keep looking for him even if that meant staying away from others

Also think he blamed himself (which he should).

I'm just glad Daryl actually suffered some consequences for once. He gets Glenn killed and everybody (characters and audience) forgives him. If this were the comics, Maggie wouldn't forgive Daryl - at least not for a long time. I wouldn't.

Bro... he shouldn't have blamed himself, I mean, he lied to Rick but it was because he felt betrayed that Rick couldn't give himself to kill the guy who made them suffer so much (Negan), I understand the whole "reconstruct society thing" but Rick didn't understand some people couldn't simply keep up with his philosophy which was deeply influenced by Carl by the way.

But as Daryl said: "I'd die for you, and I'd die for Carl", and yeah he caused Glenn's death, but he wasn't the one holding the bat, punching Negan was stupid but made sense realistically plus he kept tormenting himself for a long time and Maggie knew.

He and Maggie still betrayed Rick. Maggie could easily protested by denying to support the Coalition until Rick produced Negan. They are absolutely the reason why Rick got lost to the CRM.

And yeah Negan was the one who killed him. But in a situation like that, he has all the power. He only intended on killing 1 person. And he said clear as day that anyone disobeys him during that would result in feeding Carl's other eye to Rick. So Daryl punched Negan, even though he said that he would blind Carl and break Rick's mind. That's terribly impulsive and selfish of him. Rosita was the one most devastated by Abraham's death, and she was the one taunted by Negan - and even though she has anger issues she never snapped at Negan in that scene.

No Negan said that in response to him killing Ab. Before that nothing implied he’d do anything other than kill Daryl. It was still dumb he shouldn’t give himself up but that’s what he was thinking. That scene was honestly just plot induced stupidity
