Discussion Song recommendations

I discovered Tigran through the Meshuggah reddit a couple of years ago and fell in love with Out of The Grid. However, I haven't been able to find a lot of songs that has the same feel, so I'm wondering if I could get some recommendations.

The songs I like so far are Entertain Me, Vortex, To Negate, The Curse and the one I mentioned above. I live for the heavy, groovy breakdowns parts!! Also, I am of course seeking songs from Tigran, but if you have any other suggestions, feel free to drop them too! I love Knower/Clown Core, mouse on the keys, etc.

Conflicted about Tigran

I have been a big fan for a long time, but his past visits to israel and his silence on the palestinian genocide have been weighing very heavily on me.

I respect his choice to seperate his private views from his public image, but I can't even enjoy his music anymore with a nagging doubt that maybe he doesn't care. I don't think he's a zionist or anything, but the way things are right now with his past choices or performing in israel he is reaaaally giving a "but do you condemn hamas?", or "hamas were hiding under those hospitals" vibe.

I could not find anything online about this. If someone could ease my mind and allow me to enjoy his wonderful music again, I would be very happy. Or if you suspect the opposite, well it would be a pity.

Please no comments about how politics should be seperate from art, this is not politics this is humanity. Art without humanity is an empty shell.

EDIT: A lot of people are telling me they don't care. Good for you. That was not my question, I didn't ask if i should care. I do. I asked for information that can support or negate my suspicion.

any news from Tigran or Matt on how the tour is going?

I've been a fan of both for years and was ecstatic when I heard they were getting together! I love the live vids I've seen so far but was curious if either has commented on the tour or if they plan on working together on new material. any idea how much leeway Tigran gives his musicians to write their own parts? is Matt mostly recreating Nate's parts from the latest album or is he playing entirely different stuff? as much as I love AAL I must admit I wouldn't mind seeing Matt become Tigran's fulltime drummer going forward...

Barbican show

I was in attendance at the show in London last night. It was one of, if not thee most incredible musical performance I have ever witnessed. When they came out and played a stunningly beautiful rendition of the title track from BOTV it really hit me, and I went through a range of emotions. I was crying with absolutely joy and sheer amazement at the fact it was all happening right there infront of me.

The whole band played an absolute blinder, unbelievable show of musicianship and creativity. If you too were there - congratulations my friend, we witnessed something very special last night. I traveled down from Scotland and I would jump at the chance to see him live again - regardless of having to travel.

I wanted to ask him to break me off a 13, maybe bag it some 5's but he seemed busy.

New project with Cedric Bixler-Zavala of the Mars Volta (crowdfunding anouncement)

Pasting this Instagram publication someone shared on the TMV subreddit :

from Steve Lyman

A Bold New Project, with Your Support

I’m excited to announce a new record in the works for release next year, featuring some of the most forward-thinking musicians across multiple genres: Cedric Bixler-Zavala (u/themarsvolta ), @tigranhamasyan (piano), and @schramnate (@attaccaquartet ). This album is a genre-defying venture—a meeting point of rock, jazz, classical, and experimental sounds—pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

To bring this ambitious project to life, we’re seeking crowdfunding support to cover recording and production costs. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant impact and helps us realize this artistic vision. This is more than just an album—it’s a creative statement, a boundary-pushing collaboration between true visionaries. With your support, we’ll take this effort to the next level and deliver something truly special.

Thank you for helping make this vision a reality. Let’s create something extraordinary together.

I've been a complete TMV fanboy for like 15 years and have been a fan of Tigran since Mockroot (saw him play three weeks ago !), never would I have thought those two would meet in anykind of project. This is the best possible announcement for me. Hope the crowdfunding will be rewarding.

Does anyone understand what's behind the video game theme in BOTV?

Obviously he made a video game, but there's also the font for the album art, and many of songs feature synth sounds that sound like they are from the original Mario. What is the connection between an ancient Armenian myth and videogames? Anyone know, or read any interviews from Tigran?

The Bird of a thousand Voices lore dump

Greetings, fellow tigranheads

Last year The Bird of a thousand Voices was by far my favourite album and I may have gotten a little bit obsessed with it, so I started to piece together the story it is based on and it pretty quickly lead to me assembling everything in a document. So if you want a recap of the story and some additional information, I'd appreciate you checking it out. Always happy to discuss further theories via DM.

Video of Tigran piano solo encore song from SF show tonight/song name?

Tigran took a filthy solo during his encore song tonight in SF and was wondering if anyone got a video? Would love to hear it again, or if anyone at least knows the name of the song, I'll listen to that instead. Thanks!

vinyl available on the BOTV tour?

I'm seeing the show tonight in Denver; wondering if anyone has any insight on the availability of physical media, or any merch whatsoever?

Can someone let me know if they play BOTV music at your upcoming show date (US Tour)?

Saw them play in VA this past week for the tour and they basically just played old music instead of BOTV as advertized. Was really hoping to see the new stuff.

Thinking of seeing the second to last show in NYC. His FB page at least shows all the main band members for this date (minus the singer).

If they are playing BOTV at the next upcoming show dates that will give me confidence I’ll get to see the new stuff in NYC.

Thanks for any help!
