Toei Animation made an anime adaptation of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's Toriko which ran from 2011 to 2014. The overwhelming majority of fans agree that the adaptation was not handled well- animation quality, censorship, and filler are chief among these concerns. Perhaps most confusing, the anime created it's own ending to the show when it was cancelled, while the manga was still running.
NOTE: If you have read all 396 chapters of Toriko, disregard this post and watch all of it!
Though consuming the anime instead of the manga is settling for a lesser quality experience, if you are more comfortable entering the series with an anime, pick from one of the viewing plans below.
Fresh: Episodes 1-22, then picking up the manga at Chapter 63. This allows you to still enjoy the next arc in all it's uncensored glory.
Still edible: Episodes 1-57, then starting the manga at Chapter 125. The anime arc after this selection is of bad quality and poorly represents the mysterious fourth Heavenly King.
Almost spoiled: Episodes 1-68, 88-111 (69-87 are SoL filler and optional) and then starting the manga at Chapter 194. This is basically your last chance, and nothing beyond this point is of value in the anime.
Fully rotten: Watching all the anime, then beginning the manga on Chapter 194. Good luck on purging the last few episodes of the anime from your brain!
When you're ready, head to the Want to catch up to the current storyline? section of this subreddit's sidebar. Have any questions? Post them below!

Does anyone have the Japanese raw version of the Regal Mammoth’s data card? Just want some clarification on the mammoth’s weight.
The viz translation of the card states the mammoth weighs 50,000,000 kilograms, but the Toriko wiki says it weighs 50,000,000 tons. Which one is correct?

There was a fan poll in the 29.5 fanbook that gave me the inspiration for this. It was some kind of poll that had a bunch of top favorite “wanna-see” bishokuya/chef combis - Ichiryuu and Zaus ranked number 1 because it’s the top hunter with the top chef! Although something tells me they wouldn’t have the kind of chemistry Toriko and Komatsu have 😂 lmao

I've done my research of course so I know how hard it is to get your hands on the Toriko figures, especially the four kings and Komatsu and Terry set. But it was my 30th birthday in April and im so sad I still can't find them anywhere, I've been looking for months with NO LUCK.

It's called swallowed star, a chinese anime where you can find every episode on youtube with english subtitles. it looks amazing and the show never seems to run out of budget. its cgi tho, but very good cgi
It doesnt have any food themes. At the start, it takes place on Earth that's getting overrun by mutated beasts. The mc is one of the humans with superpowers who defends Earth. Eventually the mc leaves Earth to protect it from hostile aliens.
Here are some similarities between the two series.
Insane feats: swallowed star has characters that are capable of fighting on a white dwarf star. You also see characters clashing in space which results in a shockwave destroying several planets. These feats are nowhere near what the toptiers are capable of.
Things that are on large scale: has solar system sized planets and space civilizations that has millions of galaxies. its also mentioned there are planet sized beasts in the universe.
Both authors like to work with numbers. you get shown how much force there is behind a punch or how fast someone is etc.
I would say swallowed star has a decent amount of focus on world building but not as much as toriko.
If you are curious, just give it a try.

From what it looks like, the laser was able to reach what may be the Oort Cloud and beyond in a single scan. It would take light between "300 to 1,200 days to reach the inner edge and one year to reach the furthest edge."

Apparently, Viz has a "series suggestion" option on their site. https://www.reddit.com/r/MangaCollectors/comments/1fufcsx/reminder_contact_your_publishers_for_new_licenses/
I think if we all suggest Toriko reprints, it could potentially happen
