CF-33
Hey All!! I’m looking at this CF-33 that’s available in my area, this is the only 16g RAM model I could find, all others are 8g RAM which Id imagine it will be pretty underwhelming.
When I go pick it up, what should I check for? Anything to look out for? Thank you all so much in advance!
Price is in CAD

Mines actually 8gb sigh.
If you have experience with computers installing windows ect. Shouldn't need to check for much. My seller left his lo c ked account on it and posted it to me had to completely install everything from scratch lol. But its a step up from my CF-19 just make sure it charges and turns on should be fine

Just got me a cf33 off ebay with no ssd, 16gb ram for $230. Well worth it.

Nothing special I guess.
I would just look for hours used in bios and test if everything works fine (charger, sound, gps, wi-fi, bluetooth, keyboard, etc).

the ram on these old models are upgradeable so you can just buy an 8gb model and put in a pair of 16gb sticks instead, as for that laptop in particular try and find out what generation of cf-33 it is since that largely determines its value, and check none of the ports are gummed up with dirt or anything making them unuseable
edit: it appears the ram on the cf-33 is actually soldered, that makes your 16gb model a fair bit more desirable

Pretty sure the ram is soldered onto the board. The ssd you can upgrade.

nope, the CF-33 still uses socketed DDR3 PC3-14900see below comment, Panasonic switched to soldered on some of their ddr4 models (mainly on their Let's Note series such as the CF-SV and CF-FV line) but some toughbooks like the FZ-55 and FZ-40 still have upgradeable ram despite using ddr42

I'm tempted to open mine up and suss. The teardowns for cf33s show its soldered in. In have a mk1

oh interesting, yeah upon further searching it looks like it's the cf-31 that has upgradeable ram and people were mistaking that for the cf-33 (myself included). the cf-33 does indeed only have soldered ram

Ah everything I've watched and read said it was soldered. My bad if it's all wrong.

Opened it up. Can't show photos but I can see the ssd heatshield and then removed the cover to the wifi modems.
No dimms. I'm not going further than that tonight but yeah everything ive seen is non upgradable i have CF-V so 33mk1

I'm still using CF-31's MK1, it looks like a good deal as I was selling the 31's for 450USD just a few years ago.

I just gave away a bunch of CF-54's which aren't as cool as the 33, but they were reasonable still. 16GB ram and a quad core of some kind.

You can always add an additional 8 gigs, it's pretty inexpensive
