Mod Post UK GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY ALERT TEST

Just a heads up reminder the UK Government is testing the Emergency Alert system today at 3pm. If you’re in a situation where you have a secret phone, for whatever reason, and you need it to stay secret, here’s how you can turn the emergency alarm off. 1. Go into your settings, and go into the notification area 2. Scroll all the way to the bottom, and there should be a section for emergency alerts 3. Flick those two little buttons so that they’re not green

Can also put it in airplane mode temporarily right?

I’d say it’s best to use both precautions to be extra safe, or like another commenter mentioned, being extra extra safe and (if you can) removing the phone from the house just in case the first two precautions fail

people are reporting that about half the time, phones that were entirely turned off and had no power in them were still making noise so i wouldn’t trust airplane mode. maybe if you kill the phone/drain as much of the battery as you can?
