Mod Post The terms TME & TMA are officially banned from here on

Hello!

After over a week of letting you guys discuss about the usage of the terms TMA & TME, we have chosen to fully ban these words from further use. Most of the community seems to have come to an agreement that these should not be allowed here, so have the mods due to the fact previous conversations using these terms have been unproductive.

Please be kind to each other and remember that these will stay officially banned. If a user is found using these terms then redirect them to this post or send a message to us via mod mail.

Have a lovely day, everyone!

Edit: TME & TMA means transmisogyny exempt and transmisogyny affected. TME basically excludes anyone not trans fem and these terms have been used to belittle/invalidate those who aren’t trans fem.

Mod Post Important Community Discussion: Opinions on the Terms TME and TMA

Hello everyone!

The moderation team was having an important discussion and we value our community’s perspectives. So, we'd like to hear your opinion on this matter before we make any decisions.

In general, how do we feel about the terms TME (trans misogyny exempt) and TMA (trans misogyny affected)?

We have been considering banning usage of these terms as we've only really seen them used negatively. So far on the subreddit, they have only been used to perpetuate trans androphobia, create divides in the community, and not to have any real discussions on trans misogyny.

However, we as a moderation team know that we can only have limited perspectives and want to make sure we are not banning terms that have importance in the community without input. We don't want to let people use terms that perpetuate bigotry, which again, is what they have been used for thus far, but your perspectives are important to us.

Furthermore, we would like to add that we have received some detestable behavior in our mod mail after a moderation action has taken place. The moderation team has decided that we will not disclose whether a moderator who has taken any moderation action is TME or TMA, regardless of the outcome of this discussion. We make moderation decisions as a team, and it is harmful to attack any single moderator for their identity due to a moderation team decision. Please be respectful and do not ask if the moderator who took any specific moderation action on your posts or comments is TME or TMA. Thank you for your understanding of our request.

Please comment down below what your thoughts are on these terms and if you have seen them used in productive conversations before. We appreciate all responses we get. Make sure to remain respectful to each other while we have this important discussion.

Thank you!

Mod Post Addressing Concerns On Subreddit Name

To the members of our subreddit and the greater trans community,

In regards to the name of our subreddit, r/trans4every1, it has been brought to our attention that "41" is an anti-trans dog whistle and that the name of the subreddit could be misconstrued to being anti-trans. However, we want to assure our transgender community, both in this subreddit and outside, that we are not anti-trans. The name of the subreddit containing the numbers 4 and 1 are a horrible coincidence that did not occur to the moderation team until after the subreddit was made.

Our subreddit is all about transparency and we want to be transparent with everyone on how the name of the subreddit came into existence. Our subreddit's creator, u/WhyYesIAmANerd_, wanted to introduce a space where every trans person, no matter where they fell on the transgender spectrum, would be welcome and free to share their thoughts and experiences. He wanted to make a space that was for all of us. In this train of thought, he tried to create the subreddit r/transforeveryone. However, this subreddit was already taken and banned here on Reddit. He wanted to keep the name, however, as it is indicative of the inclusiveness of the space he wanted to create. Thus, he substituted the "for" in the name for the number "4" and the "one" in the name for the number "1," without any knowledge of other meanings doing so could create.

After we learned this, we looked into seeing if it was possible to change the name of a subreddit after it was created. Alas, Reddit does not allow communities to change their names. However, after speaking on this topic in great length, we realized that this issue is temporary, in a sense. For those not aware, as we once were, the "41" dog whistle refers to the transgender suicide attempt rate in the United States being approximately 41% from a study published in 2023. As we, the greater trans community, work towards our inevitable acceptance and gain our rights, we will lower the suicide attempt rate in our community. Eventually, through the effort of all of us supporting each other and fighting for our shared existence, we will ensure that the "41" dog whistle becomes meaningless.

The moderation team here at r/trans4every1 wants to ensure everyone that this is a space for all transgender people, no matter what journey they are on. We care deeply about this community and about us. All of us.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this topic, we are here to hear you. Please send us mod mail if you need to speak to us about this topic. We want to assuage any and all worries on this and other matters that deeply affect our subreddit and the greater trans community.

With Love and Care,

The r/trans4every1 Moderation Team

Mod Post UK GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY ALERT TEST

Post image
478 Upvotes

Just a heads up reminder the UK Government is testing the Emergency Alert system today at 3pm. If you’re in a situation where you have a secret phone, for whatever reason, and you need it to stay secret, here’s how you can turn the emergency alarm off. 1. Go into your settings, and go into the notification area 2. Scroll all the way to the bottom, and there should be a section for emergency alerts 3. Flick those two little buttons so that they’re not green

Stay safe, and this community is always, always here for you <3

Mod Post Reminder: Cisgender Allies are GUESTS in this Space

Hi everyone!

We have noticed that there has been cisgender voices causing disturbances and starting arguments with our transgender members on the subreddit. We wanted to remind everyone that cisgender allies are welcome here, but they are ultimately guests in this space.

If you are a cisgender ally in this space, it must be your mission to primarily listen and leave speaking as secondary. This space is specifically for centering transgender voices and while we appreciate our cisgender allies, we ask that they be respectful of our space and do not center conversations around themselves. Please do not start discourse or arguments with our transgender members. Instead, listen to their experiences and ask (in good faith) questions to gain a better understanding of the transgender experience.

In general, cisgender allies should save their arguing for disproving transphobes and bigots to help in our struggle to gain rights and acceptance in society. They should not be starting drama within transgender spaces.

In this post, we would also like to acknowledge that many cisgender people become allies due to a close connection with a transgender person. We appreciate your support of your loved one and accept you into this space, so long as you are respectful to our transgender members and the subreddit's rules. Furthermore, we would like to provide other spaces where you can find the support you may need:

For information on how to be a better ally to all LGBTQ+ people, UC Davis has an ally tip sheet linked here.

Overall, please make sure that this space centers transgender people and their experiences. If you are a cisgender ally, before you press send, think about whether your post or comment will cause unneeded controversy within a community to which you are ultimately a guest of.

Thank you all! If you have any questions or concerns about this post, please contact us via mod mail.

Mod Post Regarding the recent infighting

Hello everyone, it has been heated in the sub lately regarding men’s rights activism and men’s issues. While we would want to promote respectful discussions, we are also not trained mods, it is a mixed bag and apologize for all the infighting that happened.

We are not against discussing men’s issues, but we are not for MRA due to the fact it can easily invite misogynistic topics and was partially made as a backlash response to feminism.

As for members concerned about the future of the sub, considering leaving or muting, we understand and are again, sorry for letting it go that far. We should have new mods soon and hope for a steady subreddit by then. Applications will open soon <3

We once again ask you all to be respectful when debating even if you disagree with each other. There seems to be a pattern of users making their own posts regarding a topic they recently argued with another user about and this has contributed to the previous messes. We are working on a wiki to hopefully bring clarity about our sub and what’s allowed but as I’ve commented under posts, many of us are busy.

We ask you to not insult each other, hear the other person, argue or to harass anyone.

Edit: So long story short was that a trans fem MRA and cis man stirred up drama in the sub and were being divisive, especially the MRA person who made MRA posts/comments in regards to cis male privilege

Mod Post Regarding Infighting Of Trans Privileges And Struggles

Hello!

This is regarding to bio-essentialism and privilege. We’re seeing the posts about this discussion and are working to implement rules about that. This will take a while and many of us are busy with life.

This is a reminder to not assume one trans person has privilege over the other. All of us have unique struggles and we’re also seeing a rising concern of transmisogyny in the sub. Transmisogyny is NOT ok. This subreddit was made in response to the transandrophobia that was in the community, yes, but we still should not disrespect anyone in the queer community. Trans fems, anyone in between or beyond the binary and trans mascs deserves to be heard.

You do not know the other person behind the screen or their unique struggles. Do not fall into over-correction of transandrophobia and transmisandry as this is an actual concern, this will only repeat the cycle. We understand the frustration of the broad trans issues but if you wish to address something, be clear, respectful and informed, especially when debating. Be willing to listen and hear the other person rather than assuming things or trying to shut them up.

Thanks!

Mod Post Mentions of r/trans

Hey everyone! The mod team and I had a discussion recently about the rules, specifically regarding the r/trans subreddit. Theres been an increase in posts about said subreddit, and we just wanted to make a little announcement so that everyone is on the same page. Over time, a lot of people from the r/trans subreddit have seen countless posts about themselves, and evidently there’s been a bit of uproar.

We aim to keep this sub, and our corresponding discord server, as safe as humanly possible, especially after what has happened in recent events, and having any sort of relation to the r/trans sub seems to be breaking that down. This is why, for the safety as us as your mod team, and also yourselves, we have decided to implement a rule that states there should be very minimal, if any, mentions of the sub in question. I understand a lot of you have your grievances you wish to share about said subreddit, but with the increasing amount of hate being sent among people regarding this, we feel as though it is the best course of action.

Of course, feel free to message a mod on here, or open a ticket in the Discord server if you have any questions, or any ideas of what we could be doing better.

We understand this may not have been the outcome a lot of you had expected, or even wanted, but we are doing this for the safety of all of you.

Thank you for understanding.

EDIT: We have since made a megathread so that everyone who wishes to discuss this issue regarding the subreddit can discuss it safely and in one place. megathread

Mod Post World Politics Megathread

Hello everyone! Here is a place to safely discuss politics so people who want to talk about what’s happening in their countries can do this with our other members in mind. Constantly reading the attacks on trans rights can be damaging to peoples mental health so we just wanted it to be contained here.

Please state your country in the comment - and if in the states, your state if relevant.

Thank you!

Mod Post DM REMINDER

Hey everyone! I’d just like to kindly remind you all to not continue any arguments or start any arguments in DMs after a post is locked or deleted, unless explicitly stated by the other member that they are okay with it.

This also goes for messaging any moderators in this community. If you have any questions, queries or quarrels about anything that has happened, please open a ModMail. This helps the mod team all be able to see the comments you make, and takes the stress away from any one moderator if you were to DM them personally.

We hope you can understand! Thank you, and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Mod Post Please don't continue conversations in DMs

Hello! We've been made aware that after posts are locked some of you are going into DMs to continue discussions. Please do not do this unless specifically stated by whoever you are having a conversation with that it is okay. Don't just assume things and that you can skedaddle into or go willy nilly all over peoples DMs. Thank you!

Mod Post Weekly Wednesday Check-In!

Hey everyone ! Now’s your chance to give the mod team some feedback about how we’ve been doing, and tell us anything we could be doing better! This post will be locked at 5pm British time, so I have enough time to go through all of the feedback and report back to the rest of the mod team! With this being the first check in there may be some hiccups with how this works, but I’ll smooth them out asap!

We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!!

(There will be minor moderation in this post throughout the day, but no mods will respond to any feedback until it’s all collated at the end of the day)

EDIT: this weeks feedback will up for a little longer, due to me having something on this afternoon! The feedback will remain open until around 7pm British time (I’m working on finding out a way to include all time zones so that people know the close time in their area)

Mod Post No Call-Outs!!

Hey everyone! Just a quick reminder to please abide by rule 5, especially regarding not bringing drama in from other subs. Talking about them is fine, but please make sure to not mention them by name, or call them out in that regard, as that could be classified as Brigading by that sub and the Reddit Moderator team itself, and it could get this community in trouble, and I’m sure that’s the last thing anyone wants. We will be updating the rules to better define this, but in the meantime please make sure to not name any subs (unless it is an approved ad post discussed with us!)

Hey y'all!

We redesigned the rules layout and made them much easier to look at! You can see the details of each rule by hitting expand, and it'll list the things the rules cover.

This was all done by the amazing and spectacular u/Charming-River87!

We're hard at work on our wiki too, which will help clear up any confusion and will have a FAQ and many other important things!
Thanks for your patience with us today, we're trying our best and we're only human.

Mod Post No more content about other subs drama

Hey guys! I know we were going to have the megathread where we can discuss things but Reddit gave us a warning about it.

You can discuss things in our Discord server, but no posts about specific other subreddits are allowed!!

Here's a link to our server, we'll be making a specific channel for it soon.

I know this is not what you all wanted, and we don't really want this either. But we don't want this sub taken down, and I'm sure you all don't want that either.

Thanks for your patience.

Mod Post Weekly Check-ins!

Hey everyone! With this sub being relatively new, the mod team and I thought it would be a good idea to have weekly check-ins in with you all, so we can get feedback on how we’re doing, and ideas on how we could improve! I’ll be the main mod in charge of this, here and on the discord!

The check-ins will be on Wednesdays, most likely the whole day so everyone can have their say. A post will be made every Wednesday for you all to reply to on the day. (The post will be locked after Wednesday ends to ensure all feedback is collated during the one day)

I’ll take notes and relay them back to the rest of the mod team afterwards and we’ll work to improve on your feedback! I look forward to the first one this Wednesday!
