ANY student interested?

Hello everyone,

So me and my friend we are in tech and looking for study partners who are committed and not people who whine and give excuse, you must be able to be consistent because if you don't be committed you will be kicked out. We do project based learning. Like we go read a concept and then start a project which involve collaborations through GitHub. if you are open into this dm me. we welcome all like minded people.

Which cert would you go for after completing the PT1 exam?

I’m sitting the exam next month, but right now I don’t actually hold any cyber certs. I’ve been working in SOC for a year and trying to figure out how to add the most value to my experience now that I'm in between jobs.

Would it make more sense to grab a SOC focused cert to reinforce what I’m already doing on top of PT1, or branching into pentesting fully? Any opinion is welcome

If pentesting is the best move, which cert would you say is the best bang for the buck, PNPT / CPTS or ?

Looking for something with a fast ROI

Digital forensics examiner with law enforcement or justice system

Hello all.

Just to keep it short and sweet, I’m exploring the career path of digital forensics examiner for law enforcement or the justice system (public defender or private office) and I want to know if there are any good hacking rooms that teach these skills? Most of the “digital forensics” I see on things like THM and HTB are geared towards blue teaming and IR, things like that. But is there a simulation out there that teaches things like chain of custody, things to document, processes for protecting data integrity, and the tools needed to recover deleted files and build a legal case against someone?

Thank you.

Career Advice Help me

i used to be a script kiddie before, but i consider myself an expert level in social engineering. i got access to a lot of sensitive data from local companies in our area and got involved in fraud and other stuff, until i decided to quit it all in 2016. this year, someone hired me to become an agent in our local city to arrest criminals through hacking. how can i self-study to catch up with the hacking trends today?

Can't read apache2.log !!

Hey, I’m trying to check /var/log/apache2/access.log.1 on a TryHackMe box (Linux fundamentals p3/task8. I tried cat access.log.1 but it shows nothing or permission denied. The file is rwxrwxrwx for tryhackme.

Do I need sudo or is there another way to see the IPs?

Living for Hacking!

I spend two hours a day on tryhackme, and I've often spent 14 hours straight trying to solve a ctf. When I spend less time on tryhackme because I don't have much work, I watch videos on YouTube. I connect with groups on Discord and post on LinkedIn. My whole life is hacking. For the past 7 months. I go outside a little to get some fresh air, and I've dedicated my life to this. I'm not determined to become perfect at hacking. But to enrich my knowledge. I do it for fun, not because I have to.

I have no intention of finding a job or getting a degree at the moment, it's just a hobby!

I simply wanted to share my experience and thoughts with the community, which is why I made this post!

Stuck on THM process flag task

I’m on a TryHackMe room and the task says:
“Locate the process that is running on the deployed instance (MACHINE_IP). What flag is given?”

I connected with SSH and ran ps aux but I don’t see anything strange or any flag. Am I missing another command or step to find it?

Any simple hints would help, thanks!

Feedback Just finished Jr Penetration Tester — what should be my next step?

I just wrapped up the Jr Penetration Tester path on TryHackMe. It took me about 20 days — I’ve got a decent grasp on the content, though definitely not 100%. I feel like I understand the basics, but I’m not sure if I should jump straight into another path (like Web App Pentesting or Red Teaming) or spend some time on CTFs/labs to reinforce what I’ve learned.

For those who’ve been down this road, what worked best for you after finishing Jr PenTester? Should I dive into another structured path, or balance it with some CTF practice to really make things stick?

Port 21 is closed on Kenobi?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi, I was going through Kenobi machine and I completed the first part. However, I need to enter the version of ProFtpd on port 21 and port 21 is closed on the target machine. I have tried to restart the machine several times but none of them have port 21 open. Am I the only one experiencing this bug or is the machine currently broken?

Help

Working on cybersecurity 101 and I'm at the Wire shark basis room, I have come across the question about the alien, and it's name.

I have found the .txt and have tried follow http and TCP but all I can see is the picture of the alien but no name, I have looked at it in all formats and still can not find the name.

Does anyone know were I am going wrong ?

Modules not shown as completed

When I go to "Learn" => "Modules" on the THM website as logged-in user, only some of the modules I did are shown as completed (green check). Many have no idicator at all (no percentage number and no green check). This also applies to the search mask. Many modules are categorized as "Not Started", but if I click them, every single room within the module is marked as completed. Everything seems to be fine on the pages for "Learning Paths" and "Rooms". Now this is not the biggest problem in the world, but has anybody the same issue?

Anyone managed to postpone their TryHackMe PT1 exam?

Hi everyone,

I recently received a voucher from TryHackMe for the PT1 exam, and I need to take the exam before the end of August. Is there any way to request a postponement? Has anyone here been able to reschedule their exam?

Edited :- messaged them directly, they extended for a month
