FAC wait
Out of curiosity, if you’re going to get denied FAC, is that after the interview? Or is there a possibility it could get denied even before that?

I’ve heard tales of a chap denied an FAC as a result interview. Air rifles were found not to be suitable secured which was interpreted as a lock of due control for firearms.

It's like a no brainer when you even have an empty safe waiting for firearms

If something in your application is a straight refusal then it will be refused straight away. As you would logically expect.
If there is something that is borderline, then the interview will be used to determine if it will result in a refusal or not. So if you get to the interview, you should be fine as long as you are open and honest about whatever it is. Expect to have to answer difficult questions and don't try to hide anything. FEO's are human lie detectors. They will know!

You would probably have to have something serious on your record to be refused straight away. The majority get refused at the final decision-making stage. The interview doesn't guarantee a grant.

Chances are if you have an interview you're 90% of the way there.
If they were going to deny it on legal/medical grounds they wouldn't even interview you
The interview (in my experience) is mainly to check that you're not a total freak, to go through the nitty gritty, your security measurements are in order and what you have put on your application is truthful
