My theory is yes, there may be guys like a certain guy I know who argue that John's ability would be a copy of Jane's, but I have the theory that it's not true.

Somehow, William's genes gave him the reverse card.

It seems that Jane MANIPULATES the external aura of others, due to the issue of Ember's ability amplifiers and converters. We don't know if the ability nullification and weakening could also come from her, because Spectre stole NXgen research.

But my completely schizophrenic theory is that having children with disabled people reverses your ability to a certain frequency.

John seems to only be able to manipulate his own aura; we've never seen him or tried to manipulate external auras.

Is William really like a reverse card of one?

His uncle seems to do the same thing he does, it seems like a family trait. I think we’ll know more when Cameron uses his ability more

Cameron stores abilities. He's an ability specialist, which means he has access to abilities that he can pick and choose from

John amplifies his own stats and therefore isn't the same as Cameron

That's his job title, not his ability. Cameron probably uses his ability to teach others how to use theirs to a higher degree. I view Cameron's ability as the next level to John's. John couldn't always amp either, nor could he boost his stats without an ability to copy, these are just ways that his ability improved.

Cameron was raised as a high tier, never got readjusted, and is older. It's understandable that he'd be stronger

I think with his ability being back, he feels different about it than before , and the more he learns ofcourse he becomes stronger, if he goes on another training to study more on abilities, I think he can manage to control external aura as well , how and when no idea But just like blyke became stronger , he might as well With Jane and her brother on their sides much later I'm sure this time they have a way against the authorities

Nx gen has Jane as their hostage So their research has to be from her Considering how John never truly lost his ability I think it's safe to say that the dampeners are from Jane And also the abilities John copy are an amplified version, so amplifiers are also sourced from Jane.

Frankly I think instead of Channel Master he will evolve into Aura Master so he can't affect the channels of himself nor others, but can pretty much do everything a Channel Master can and more.

As for why John's ability ended up like it is my theory is that cripples have say blank aura so as where normally an would either replace it an aura related ability like Channel Manipulation/Master got inserted into it evolving it from only manipulating channels to being able to manipulate aura.
