Travel Inquiry Anyone been out to fossil ledges on Drummond Island lately?
I know there was a post here about a month ago asking if a normal car could make it (no) - but I wanted to know about current conditions.
I've got 24" of wading depth but don't really want to go above 16". Did it last year in late October, but figured I'd ask in case it's been wet in the eastern U.P. and the puddles might be deeper.
Thanks!

As someone who off-roads and works on cars often, I would strongly discourage anyone from taking a regular car out to fossil ledge. If you really want to get out there, take a boat or walk. I was just out there 2 weeks ago and there's still a crossing with at least 30 in of water in it. I'm not sure the total number of water crossings between the start and the ledge but it has to be around 25.

Ask the visitor center on Drummond Island.
When we went to see them a few years ago, we reached out to the visitors center first. They asked us for information about the automobile in which we were traveling. Then they gave us their opinion based on our auto information. (We travelled there in a Subaru Outback each time that we visited it.)
We were on Drummond Island a few days ago. We decided not to visit the ledges because we visited the "Potagannissing Flooding" area, and it looked like a lot of water. However, this was a personal decision because we had already seen the fossil ledges on several previous trips.
