Travel Inquiry Likely weather outlook for the end of September, based on experience
We're heading to the UP for vacation the last week of the month. I wasn't expecting balmy weather but I'm a little disheartened by videos of snow. We have quite a bit of outdoor time planned - is there a chance it could warm back up a little into a more typical fall? I realize the weather is probably stupidly unpredictable just like Missouri, but for those who have lived there awhile, is it possible?

Could be 70. Could be 50. Could be 40. Could rain. Snow is extremely unlikely but if it does it be wet and melt.
Also depends where you go. Superior shore will be very different than Michigan shore.

It could be gorgeous like late summer, it could be a normal fall day or it could be early winter type day (more rare, but does happen). The closer to Superior the warmer it will be, but that also means more rain/snow should the weather turn because lake effect showers. Inland NOAA tends to be the most accurate. North Coastal, sadly, the Apple weather app tends to be the most accurate. I always have a list of clothes to pack set for the two extreme ends and then I check the forecast as close to my trip as possible.

We will be spending most of our time on Keweenaw, that's why I was a bit concerned. Not for my well-insulated butt, really, but my parents are elderly so a high likelihood of cold and damp wouldn't be as enjoyable for them.

I’ve spent a good deal of time in the UP the first week of November. It’s always chilly but rarely snowy. Not sure I’ve ever had to deal with snow in Oct. That being said, I’m sure my experience is an exception rather than the rule.
I guess my point is, sure there may be occasional snow in Sept/Oct, but it’s also possible you have no snow at all

No such thing as bad weather, but there is bad weather clothing. Layer up and enjoy your time. It’ll likely be cold.
