Did a quick run to watersprite lake today (July 27th). The road was rough here and there but no significant water bars. IMO it’s in decent shape compared to most FSRs. Lots of potholes and loose rock. There was active construction so take it slow. Drove up in a jeep so YMMV. We saw mostly suvs up there, with the exception of a Tesla and a few lower clearance vehicles. There’s a 4x4 Facebook group for watersprite specifically so check them out if you want more beta

Lots of people on the trail…. And lots of folks blasting music on their portable speakers. If you’re looking for peace and solitude this isn’t the hike for you. The trail is well maintained (thank you to the developers!) and there’s a few boulder type fields that slowed people down. I was surprised with how gradual the elevation gain was on the trail but it’s very pleasant. The last bit is a straight shot up but it looks worse from below.

Finished in about 3 hours round trip

Didn’t see the camp site. Ran up and down in 3 hours total

Beautiful! Too bad about the noisy hikers. Would love to hike this one day but sadly I fear my dinky little sedan would have a very rough time getting there.

Should I risk it to the trailhead with a shitty rental corolla
