Trip Reports Mount Tricouni

We did Tricouni yesterday via iceberg lake and the north ridge which is NOT hiking. But the area is stunning and I think the hike up to iceberg lake would be worth it or the scramble up Tricouni peak via the scramble route southwest ridge. The area is stunning and I’m totally recommend it if you can get into the area

It’s actually called just Berg Lake or East Tricouni. Stunning area as we checked it out summer, 2020. Resident Grizzly as well in area that has been posted a few times being aggressive over the past 5 years so be Bear ready in this area.

I’ve heard about the resident grizzly the past few years. I was up tricouni main route recently and zero signs of bear on road or trail. And I have friends that did route of OP also no bear signs. Where did the bear go!

Maybe moved on to another area but it was definitely around 2020-2024.

I camped at Pendant lake in '23 and there were massive bear poops on the trail in at least 2 locations!

There is an Iceberg lake around that area but it’s much closer to Whistler and a fantastic hike also.

If you zoom way in on that 4th pic you can see me somewhere over on cloudburst. Here's a pic I took looking back at you.

Just dumpster diving for whatever snow we can get lol. (This was pretty good considering it's August though.)

Descended that slope last month on foot and I damn wish we had skis for that lol.

lol before reading your caption I was thinking that I might personally be into a matching rope & harness to go with your helmets! 😂 how sketchy did you find the scramble?

We had gear and ropes! I wouldn’t go up there without it but we felt the majority of it was straight forward. We do climb a lot and have a lot of experience in this kind of terrain. The moat was complicated and getting over it to the ridge required gear. Fun day though if it’s within your ability! I found it super fun!

Any pictures of the moat? Wondering how large the gap is from snow to rock atm
